Ok, I'm not sure what I want to do. We will be using the Salute tickets (4 day park hopper) for our whole party- me, dh, dd1, dd2, mil, fil, and possibly bil, mom, and dad. Both DH and fil can purchase salute tickets so we will be able to get them for everyone.

The problem is that I want to spend 5 days in the park so we can do 2 days at MK. I don't know if everyone else (mil, fil, bil, mom, and dad) will want to spend the extra $ for a 1 day ticket. So assuming they don't want to, would it be better to get a 1d for MK or a 1d for E, HS, AK? The 1d for MK costs more, but would allow everyone to go to all the parks together and the other one would allow for 2 days at MK together, but missing out on one of the other parks with everyone.

WWYD?

I would first find out if the rest of the family wants to spend an extra $100+ each for that extra day. If they don't, then ask them if they want to skip one of the other 3 parks. If they want to see every park, then buy the single day MK tickets for just your family. But I wouldn't arbitrarily skip a single park- I think that to be fair to everyone else the whole group would have to want to skip the same park.

I would call and find out if you can add a day to salute tickets and what the price would be. I know normal tickets, starting the 5th day, it's only 10+tax per ticket, per day to add on more days. It may not be as expensive as you think and fit in the budget.

I love doing a full MK day early on and then hop back to it for a part day later in the trip. AK is a great park to start at rope drop because the animals are more active in the morning and I generally find myself satisfied with my day by early afternoon and ready to head somewhere else. It might be a nice compromise to not add a 5th day. Also depending on when your going, you might find MK opened the latest every night your there making it an option to get a couple hours every night after your other park plans.

Unfortunately you cannot add on in this way to Salute tickets.

OP, I'd personally do MK and ditch HS. That's just me though. Otherwise if everyone is not willing to spend the money on a 1 day (as they are more than half the cost of the 4 day Salute!) have you considered perhaps a downtown disney or resort touring day?

I would add time onto your trip and use those hoppers to get in the time you want in MK. I would map out a plan so I spent a full day in MK, another day head to AK< spend a god portion of the day there, hop back t MK and enjoy the evning attractions and shows there. Full day at DHS if you want to seee Fantasmic, and full day at Epcot. Or any variation of this plan. Heavy on the park days using your hopper with a good day break in between so you do not burn out. I would not arbitrarily skip a park.

I'm confused by this. If a single day MK ticket costs more than E, HS or AK, then I'd buy the less expensive ticket. You could still go to the "other parks" with everyone, just use the single ticket and not the salute ticket when you go, and save the "extra" day on your salute ticket to use at MK.

I think this is the right idea. Enjoy the discounted tickets and spare the relatively high expense of adding single-day tickets - there's more than enough between Disney Springs, or even just the resorts for that matter - to fill an extra day. You could use that as a relaxing break day in this middle of your trip. You could cut out HS, or take advantage of your hoppers and do extra evenings at MK after you've done AK or HS in the morning.

Our original plan without the extra day ticket would look like this: 1 full day at MK, 1 full day at E, 1 morning at HS hopping back to MK or E that evening (but maybe not if we decide to see F!), and 1 morning at AK hopping back to MK or E that evening (but maybe not if we decide to see the new Rivers of Light, which will be out by the time we go.) We will have a break day in the middle to spend at the resort and DTD.

I just thought with two little girls, being able to spend 2 days at MK would allow us to not have to go so hard to get all that we wanted to done. Last time we went it was fine bc DD1 was just 2 and we skipped a lot of the rides bc of height, etc. but this time around she will be 5 and want to do a lot more. We have enough time until our trip to be able to save up for the extra day ticket.

This is what I was wondering...

I could do this on the Salute tickets: full day MK, morning Mk and evening HS (Save FP+ for HS), full day E, Morning AK and evening whatever and then use the extra day ticket to do maybe E again....

Its a bit of a pain, but it works. Buy a single day other park ticket. On the day you plan on going anywhere but MK make that single day your priority ticket (can be done at guest relations), that way you use that ticket in the middle of your trip and still have a a salute day available for your 5th day.
