WWofHP without Universal hotel?

Hi guys

WWofHP wasn't open when we went this year so we really wanna go on our next trip. We're flying with virgin 29th April to 17th May next year and are planning on spending one day in US and one in IOA. We only really wanna do the HP stuff in IOA and have a look round the rest as three of the four of us aren't big on rollercoasters.

I've seen lots of things about the early access etc when staying in a Universal hotel but we're planning on doing a villa then disney hotel (I get discount there) so we don't really wanna have to do a Universal one too. Please can you reassure me that we can get HP done without staying in the hotels? And I know we have to get there early but are we better going for the main ride first or to Olivanders etc?

I think you will be just fine with a whole day at IOA. The WWoHP part is fairly small, you'll have plenty of time. I went this past summer for 8 hours, didn't stay onsite and couldn't deal with the heat so made a 1/2 day of it. Only really cared about HP, anything else I saw was just a bonus. We had plenty of time, including waiting in a 90min line for Ollivanders and riding FJ twice. We also saw most of the rest of the park in that time.

I guess it depends on what part of the coasters you don't like. I personally don't like large drops that look like i'll plummet to my death, so in that regard, FJ was nothing! I loved it. DH didn't like it much though because it is part motion simulation type ride and those tend to give him motion sickness (though no problem on coasters for him). It does flip you backward a bit, like your feet are up in the air but you're not totally upside down.

Ah, that should be ok then. I don't like that 'freefall drop' feeling. I can cope with rides like Star tours etc easily and love Big Thunder but not so keen on Splash or Loop the loop rides. Did Everest but didn't love the big backwards in the dark.

I also find this reassuring. We are planning April 9 through 16 and much as I would love to stay at RPR the only way we MIGHT swing this is by staying offsite. DS is just getting into the HP books and he will be 8 when we go, DD will be 2.5. We have the 7-day unlimited passes we bought for $99 but I figured one day at US, one at IOA, and possibly a third day to repeat favorites. (The rest of the time we plan Sea World, Busch, and Kennedy and actually plan to relax for one day at our resort!!)

Anyway...good to know we can tackle HP without the FOL access.
