WWII history buffs

Hello- can anyone help me with a German war medal question?

My DS-12 is quite into all things WWII. Our local antique store has quite a few German medals. We chose a wound medal for him (Christmas) and we are not sure if it is Gold. How do we go about finding this out.

Plus if anyone knows where we can find a Japanese pin or a Russian pin that would be great. We are trying to put together a whole WWII thing for him.

He has my dads medals from WWII and we would like to cover it all.

I'd be willing ot bet it's bronze not gold.

The problem with that is they only made them black, silver or gold.
I have searched and searched online and am more confused than before.
