Hi everyone
I was just wondering which one of these programs everyone felt like had more of a success rate.....I just started on South Beach but wondering if WW might be a more healthier way to go....any tips or advice would be GREATLY appreciated...thanks:confused3

I have done both and I believe both are healthy as designed. WW has two options - one is very South beach like, the other is points based and requires journaling and measuring.

I am currently doing South Beach and I have lost 25 lbs. :yay: I feel like I could continue on SoBe long term as I have another 32 lbs to go. I lose any where from .5 to 2.0 lbs per week. It would be the same on WW.

I like the SoBe recipes and website. I also was diagnosed with PCOS and it made the low carb lifestyle a requirement by my Dr. and she suggested the SoBe diet. My blood chemistry has improved dramatically with this diet and that was as much of a goal as losing weight.

I think you should look at both on the web and see which one would fit better with you and your lifestyle. That is really the key. GOOD LUCK!

I've never tried WW.

I really do like SoBe. I was on it off and on for about a year. Unfortunately, I could never get to my goal weight. I guess I'm just metabolically resistant. I'm currently on Atkins, which is more low carb. I know people have their qualms about Atkins, but I lost 30 pounds on it before and have lost 10 pounds on it in the last two months. It just works for me (and in later stages is very much like SoBe).

In the end, it just depends on what works for your body. Try SoBe. If it works for you (both weight loss and life style)--great! If not, give WW a try.

I just started SoBe today. I checked the SoBE book out of our local library yesterday and the recipes look tasty. Today went very well. I discovered I love the celery w/Laughing Cow Light Cheese snack and the sugar-free Jello (cherry) dessert.

I'm anxious to get a week under my belt (no pun intended! :) ) and see how I feel.

I think either one can be healthy, depending on your personal nutritional requirements.

The WW "Flex Plan" is essentially a low-calorie plan emphasizing low-fat foods. Many healthy foods are allowed or encouraged on the plan, although it's quite possible to spend your "points" (calories) on junk while doing WW Flex. So, there's no guarantee you'll eat healthy food, although WW does encourage you to follow their "8 Healthy guidelines" as well as stay within your points allotment.

The other WW plan, the WW "Core Plan", is a low-fat plan based on natural foods. It is quite healthy for most people; however, I found that it had way, way too many carbs for me. I actually found that both WW plans wreaked havoc with my blood sugar because they had too many carbs (I am a Type 2 diabetic) and I had to go from just taking pills to control my diabetes to taking two shots of Byetta a day -- not the improvement in diabetes that WW advertises!

I felt miserable on both WW diets and couldn't lose much weight even when following them carefully. I eventually switched to a reduced-carb diet that I designed myself. It emphasizes non-starchy vegetables and is probably a bit lower in carbs than South Beach, but higher in carbs than Atkins.

I had also heard that WW Core was like South Beach, which made me think it would be low in carbs. Really, though, it isn't -- WW Core is a low fat diet, and low fat diets tend to be very high in carbs. What WW Core has in common with South Beach is that they both restrict the type of foods you can eat, rather than the amount of food you can eat. However, the specific foods you can eat are quite different on the two diets. For example, you can have all the fruit you want on WW Core, but no fruit at all for the first two weeks of South Beach.
