I have done WW in the past on my own and by going to meetings and I've had success doing it both ways.

I started on points again today and I'm not sure if I want to do it on my own at home or go to meetings. I have the at home kit from 2006 but I'm not sure if much has changed in the past 2 years.

Does anyone know if the points and daily allowance are counted/calculated the same way or have there been changes? I'm trying to figure out if going would be more beneficial b/c it would be more updated info.

I would like to buy a new food scale (mine broke) and possibly a points calculator and I didn't see them on the WW site.

Thanks!

They updated the program a little bit at the start of the new year. I don't think the information changed much at all. I still have the old and the new and I use them both and to be honest I hadn't noticed a difference. I have also done WW both ways and have found success both with meetings and doing it on my own and I have to say if you can, I would do the meetings. There is nothing like support to help you on your journey and once you make lifetime the support is yours for life.

Thanks for the info on the materials.

I have 2 friends who are also starting back up on WW. I'm thinking the meeting might be better for me now b/c I'm more apt to stick to the points if I have to have somebody else weigh me. :scared: I think I'm going to buy the monthly pass. It's slightly cheaper and I won't have to pay every week b/c it will already be taken care of.

I would also recommend going to the meetings. There is so much support and information that you just don't get on your own or from the website. Going to the meetings and having someone weigh and record my weight is what keeps me on track.

Also, you should look into your insurance to see if they reimburse for weight loss programs....I have BC/BS and they will reimburse $150 year for Weight Watchers. By the time I had spent $150 on the monthy pass I was just about at Lifetime status so essentially it cost me almost nothing to join! Good luck on your journey!

My insurance is Harvard Pilgrim Health. They give free registration for WW but I get free registration with the monthly pass. I was hoping they did a reimbursement though. Oh well.

oh that stinks...sorry. It's a nice little perk that BC/BS gives makes WW even more valuable! WW is still worth it, for your health and well being. Money well spent!
