I'd really like to try Weight Watchers - from what I can tell, both the point system and core seem to fit into what I can do. But I keep feeling like I am hitting a roadblock when I try to learn more.

I am totally okay paying to join, but I want to understand more about the program and if it really is for me and I am just not finding the info I want. Are there any books out there that outline what the points are, how to figure them out and how many a person can have in one day, week, etc.? Or what the core foods are? Or do I need to join to get the information I want?

I think I'd like to do the online program - that seems to work best for me. So I guess what I'm asking is:

Is there a place I can go to get/buy this information?
Is there a thread or threads already on here I should be reading?
I have PCOS so it's always been low carb for me...anyone out there have a similar situation?

Any help is much appreciated!!!! Thanks!

I am sad to see this hasn't had a reply all week, and I would love to answer all of your questions, but I am pressed for time. In short, the best place to get the information you are looking for is to attend a meeting, they are a wealth of information and ideas. I have done WW online and with meetings and the meetings, by far, are the best for me. I am not sure how it works online with material as I got all of my material from my sister who was a WWer. But at the meetings they give you all of the tools (and information) you need to succeed. If you don't like attending the meetings I would suggest joining for a short period and then going it on your own online with the materials that you get from the meeting.

Hope this helps you a little. WW is a wonderful program, I am so glad I brought WW into my life.

I joined WW online three weeks ago and have lost 3 pounds. I really love the convenience of the online program. You simply enter a food item and it calculates the points for you. You can also search for recipes, food ideas based on point values, and the point values for exercises (you get extra points based on how much you exercise. The message boards on their site are free. I am sure you will get lots of information and answers over there.

Thank you both!! I think someone is telling me I need to do WW...last week I was in a lunch meeting and a coworker was eating pizza and mentioned he had to get plenty for lunch since his fiancee was doing WW and he couldn't eat pizza often at home. I asked him if she had any books or anything to explain how the system works. He said he'd check.

I then had lunch this week with my dad - told him I was looking for information on WW and he said he knew a woman in the next door office who is in WW. He'd see if he could get me the info.

DH told me that lots of women at his office do WW. He said he'd talk to one of them to see if she had any info.

Soooo...

Last night my dad stopped by and gave me a black bag full of books and brochures and the points chart.

Today at work, my coworker handed me a blue bag full of books and brochures and one of his fiancee's 3 month journal.

And today, DH was given a bag of info from his coworker to bring home for me. Since I already had it, he thanked her and didn't bring it home.

So I'm thinking there is a message in all this...:rotfl:

I am excited - the points system seems to be very flexible, once you get the whole concept of what makes a point. The books that explain how many points you can have and the points finder and all the recipes and ideas have made up my mind - I'm ordering my own kit tomorrow so I can return these two and I'm getting started on Monday after shopping this weekend.

Where is the WW thread on these boards? I saw someone mention it on Danielle's thread...? I have two different kits here. One from 2005 and one from 2007. It looks like the allotted points per day are calculated differently in both so I have some research to do.

Thanks for your responses again - I am excited to be joining the WISH boards!! :cool1:

I think I've seen it in other posts tonight but dottie's site is really good for point values and online spreadsheets and calculators. You should check the site out. It could be helpful. www.dwlz.com

Here is the link for the WW thread. It has been running for almost three years now, but if you jump to the last page, introduce yourself you will be welcomed with open arms....guaranteed!

So glad you received SO MUCH Weight Watchers information, I would definitely take it as a great sign. The Flex program is easy once you learn it and live it, so congrats to you for taking that next step!

I just joined WW online.... I have done it for years going to meeting and lost 50 lbs well I stopped going and stopped following the program and gained 10 back so I just joined up again online.

I like WW online but I feel that if you didn't have WISH and the books from your friends it would be harder to follow than the meetings and the information they give you.

It really works and once you get the "hang" of it it is easy to follow.

Good Luck. :woohoo:

Thank you! I am set to start tomorrow and I believe I will be signing up for WW online. I am pretty excited about this!

HI!!:thumbsup2

I think the online version will be great for you! Its always different for everyone, someone people need that ownership for what they've done all week and to share their experiences while other people would like that but just don't have the time. For those people, IMHO, I think the WW Online works (As long as you have a buddy around to own up to and share with! :goodvibes )

Here is to us loosing!
