Ugh. I am pretty tired of myself and unmotivated and frustrated. I have been making an attempt this last week or so to do WW. I have the materials as I have done it in the past--just the points system before the new combo plan--but I am not getting anywhere. I do good for like three days and then I just totally go off and have french fries and ice cream for dinner. Yeah, that's a good choice..... :sad2: Anyway, I have joined Curves and am going and like it so that is a positive step, but I am NOT getting my eating under control.

I have been to WW meetings in the past and I know this leader in the city I live in is NOT a good fit for me. I also feel like one more commitment on my plate is going to really be a struggle but I don't know what to do. On my own, I am not cutting it. So, I guess I am wondering if there are others out there who have tried on their own but found the meetings to really be key and if you haven't bee able to manage meetings, what have you done to keep on track and focused?

Thanks! I really need some direction.

i started weight watchers, doing it on my own, on april 3. so far i've lost 19.5 pounds. just seeing the weight come off has been enough to keep me on track. i feel like the meetings would be a waste of my time and money. i've been trying to lose weight for a long time b/c i have a disorder called polycystic ovarian syndrome, and losing weight helps alleviate the symptoms. however, i was never able to get my eating under control or exercise on a regular basis. right before i started ww i went to my endo and she basically made me realize that i am the one responsible for my weight and i have to be the one to fix it. it was like a total wake up call. i knew i hadnt been trying hard enough, and i finally felt like i could do it. so anyways, i think if you try doing it on your own, and even if you pull it off for just 2-3 days, and you see the weight drop, you'll be able to stick with it. i lost 7 pounds the first week, and after years of my weight going up instead of down, i was so excited that i stuck with it. it helps me if i label all my foods in the fridge or cabinet with the points it is so i dont have to sit down and figure it out each time, and i keep a journal of my food, points and exercise. i figure out what i'm going to eat for the day when i first get up, and i make sure i always leave about 5-8 points left over in case i crave something, so i can have it.

sorry i went on for so long. hope i helped.

I have never done WW or any other formal weightloss program, but I can say that this forum has helped me tremendously to stay motivated and keep going, even after a bad day. I read others journals for motivation and to get ideas. I also try and maintain my own journal every day here and record everything that goes into my mouth along with whatever exercise I get done. The people on this board are very supportive and I truly appreciate everyone's kind comments and helpful suggestions.

Have you tried WW online? That's how I started, and decided which WW plan I was going to follow. I did it for several weeks, then realized that I had started slipping a little. That's when I decided I really needed more witnesses. So I found a meeting (there's like, a MILLION in my town, so keep checking around to find a leader you like), and I hit this board, and it seems to be doing the trick.

I joined WW online in Jan 2003, and lost 35 pounds. It was good having the motivational emails, and "weighing in" each week kept me accountable. When I hit a 2 month long plateau, I joined in real life, and lost another 15 pounds. I now work for WW, and have kept the weight off for almost 2 years now.

I did WW before, the meetings and online later. Did great with meetings but then starte online because I was working 40 hours and attending college FT as well 12 credit hours. I'm wanting to join the Online plan because I just can't seem to get myself going with it. I think if I had the "plan" expecting me to do well I'll keep it up. I sent in my order but my card was having issues but now I gotta wait until next week to sign up. I'm telling dh that is my mothers day present.

I know it is hard for me to do on my OWN.

I tried to do WW by myself before I joined in Feb. and it wasn't working. I have a great deal of stress in my life, we are relocating and trying to sell our home, and I couldn't do it on my own. I haven't stayed for a meeting and am down 16 1/2 pounds to date. I just needed to know I paid the membership and have to be accountable to the scale in front of other people. Having to get weighed in has made the difference for me.

I have been on WW many times (and it worked each time...it was when I wasn't on it that was the problem!) and I was going to rejoin as I would love to lose weight before my trip to WDW in December and my 20 year HS reunion in November. But before I spent the $$, I decided on a cheaper route.

Luckily, I found this board, and signed up for the journaling challenge. This is my biggest problem (keeping track of what goesd in my mouth), and it was the only thing that kept me accountable, especially on WW. So, I also signed up for a FREE account on fitday dot com and track my food, exercise and journal there. It's great!

Also, I am exercising daily, which is a huge change from exercising never. I know what to do to lose weight, I just needed to do it.

Hopefully, this will keep me motivated to change my lifestyle. Good luck to you! Keep us posted!
