Hi all, new to this board but been around the DIS for a while. I'm looking into the WW plan for my family and see they have a Points plan or the Core plan. Which do you recommend and why? Seems as thought the Core might be easier to follow for people not wanting to do calculations all the time or that don't have access to the info to figure the points. Is the Core plan like th eold WW where there is a certain amount you eat each day and they give you sizes and items?

I don't feel meetings will fit my life and me, my DD13 and DH want to start a plan for healthy living and weight loss.....How can we each get the plan we need without signing up for all that money the want?

Pending back surgery for DH and a slightly curvy teen are wanting new bodies......and me too!!!!

and what happened to the WW plan that told you (based on sex and age) how mny of each item you could have a day and what your choices for those items were?

It seemed like a balanced plan and easy to follow without calculating points or worrying about if foods were on a special list.....

ie: for a teen you got X number of dairy and 1 serving of dairy equaled 1/2 cup cottage cheese....

If you haven't already received an answer to this, you might try the WW thread on this forum. There may be someone with information to help you there. I don't do WW, so have no idea how to answer.

This is what I found when I did WW. The old plan was way more balanced as you said. You got your protein, milk/dairy, fruit and veggies in every day. I know friends on the points system who don't even eat veggies or fruit. In fact, they seem to see points as a way to be on a junk food diet and lose weight.

Also, with the old plan, I only ate 2-3 bread servings per day. This helped me tremendously with weight loss! Seriously! Once I eat more than 2 or 3 bread servings per day I start not losing! This was a huge revelation to me.

I also liked the fat and fiber plan. Basically the same, but it helped you to choose foods high in fiber which aid in feeling full.

WW said that the points are so popular that they will never get rid of them. I can understand why, but I don't think it is the best plan for me!

I found that if I did the Core plan (which I love!) I still needed to calculate calories and portions. Free reign, even with the right foods, does not help me lose weight!

A WW leader told my friend that people on the Core plan aren't losing as much as those on the points plan overall. I think this is because they are eating large volumes of food and calories DO still count!
