"Wrong number" stories

One night got a very drunken happy birthday call on my voicemail. It was actually my birthday, so I kept trying to make sense of the message and who it was. I finally realized he was slurring someone else's name and had a totally wrong number who happened to share a birthday!

My current house was built new, and inherited a number from a family we know entirely too much about. Heck, their voicemail was still set up on our number the first 2 days, so we found that they were a man and wife and 2 young kids, and the mother had 2 businesses out of the home-inlcuding a slumber party business. I guess they fell on hard times and left in a hurry. We got business calls and personal calls and collection calls regularly for quite a while. Then we started just getting collection calls, and of course they don't believe me that I am not Charlene and have never met her. We have now lived here 4 years, and I still get occasional calls from third party collectors for this lady's business. I feel sort of bad for her, she seems to have really gotten herself in a mess. I hope things are going better now wherever she is.

I had the same problem with a previous number that I had. The number I got used to belong to a neighbor across the street. I would get collection calls for them at times and would have to tell them that this isn't that party. I just called the phone company and had my number changed. That put an end to the collection calls.

When we first moved into our house, people would call our number thinking they were getting the Bakery. At first I thought people were dialing wrong, but it happened too often. I guess the bakery closed and we got their number - wish I had their cinnamon buns instead!

There was also a little old black lady that used to call our number. She'd ask for several people and each time I'd nicely say that I think she had the wrong number. After a few times of calling our house, over a course of time, she would realize she had us instead of who she intended to dial and she'd laugh her cute laugh and say "oh, it's me again!".....kind of miss that lady.
