Hey my fellow US/IOA snobs, I need a little help please. I would like to send my dad and son to the US wrestling event in July and need (desperately) help finding CHEAP airfair+hotel rates. We will also need the hotel to have free shuttle for both the airport and the US parks so they can get back and forth. Free breakfast would be nice too :thumbsup2 I know, I'm asking a lot, but I figured if anyone would know of any good deals out there, you guys would.

TIA for any help/suggestions!!! Hope everyone is having a fantastic summer and enjoying the parks!!!! :goodvibes (wish I was LOL)

Adding to my question, what is the cost to use MEARs & are there certain hotels it services, or does it service any in the theme parks area (Universal specifically) and roughly, what would the cost be using a cab from CityWalk to a hotel in the Universal area? I am asking about cabs because my father is disabled and has a difficult time walking long distances and the heat bothers him.

TIA again :)

Anyone? I've read the transportation sticky and it didn't answer my questions (completely).

sharky, i'm thinking..........

are they going to universal only for this trip?

just 2 days there for the wrestling event or will they be staying in orlando for other things?

if they are going to stay at disney, the ME will provide transportation fromt he airport to disney and back to the airport free.
but i know you already are aware of that.

if that is the case, mears transportation from the motherland to the darkside would be the cheapest.

if they want to stay off site near universal, there are plenty of cheaper hotels available.
priceline the room.
check and see what the regular rate is and then put your bid in under that rate cost.
there are so many off site hotels to chose from.
do you need a list?

if you go to the UO website, you will find a few that provide free transportation to and from UO.
you don't have to make it a UO package to use the shuttle.

shuttles for the off site hotels to UO can take a long time.
they hit a variety of hotels before they hit their destination.

quick silver was doing a lot of transporting from OU to ord.
havent' kept up on them so i don't know their rates now.

you could estimate the private cars cost about $50 each way for the aiport.

google hotels in the universal orlando area.
that is what i have done in the past to find which hotels are available and then the amenities that come with it.

i haven't stayed offsite in a long time.
i'm not up on all the ins and outs about it.

i do remember some threads that pertained to what you need to know.

if i can get the time, i'll try to pull up those threads and see if that will help you get the info you need.

Thank you Macraven! Looks like the airfare is going to be the biggest obstacle once we figure out the hotel and transportation.

They don't have to stay on site since they are just attending the wrestling event (a 3 day thing). They're basically just wanting some place clean and comfortable and hopefully with a free breakfast. I've read some where on there that the cabs to/from the near by hotels to the US/Citywalk area isn't too bad, maybe $5-$7 pp IIRC

Any light you can shed would be SOOOOOOO very much appreciated! :goodvibes

i'll try to get back here tomorrow.

if i don't send me a pm to remind me.

The breakfast I don't know about but there are hotels on Major BLVD that are cheap and clean such as The Doubletree , The Holiday Inn and suites main gate to Universal , The Hyatt Place Universal and they all are about a 10 to 15 min walk to Universal and also has shuttles to Universal but no free shuttles to the airport and yes the cab rides from the hotels I mentioned are only $5 each way to universal
Hope this helps :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info!!! They've decided against a Florida trip *sigh*

At least now though I have all of the info for next time :goodvibes

I'm going to move this to the main board so you can get more responses.
