Hey Everyone,

We definitely want to have the ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion and I'm trying to work out the timing for everything and was curious as to what everyone is doing. We also definitely want to do a dessert party.

Our planner recommended a 5 pm ceremony, that would mean we lose an hour of our reception for the Dessert Party and it sounds like it will cost a lot to extend the party to make up for that time. I'm also afraid it's too much running around and not enough time for everything. DF also definitely wants a dinner reception.

Did you do the 2:30 pm ceremony instead? Did you push back your cocktail hour? What are guests going to do in the meantime? We're thinking we'll have 50-75 guests.

Sorry for rambling, kind of stressed and confused by the timing of everything :confused3

Are you guys seeing each other beforehand? If you do a first look with your photographers and get your portraits out of the way beforehand, then you can cut the cocktail hour waaaay down and join your guests right after the ceremony.

Photographers *love* it when you do this, and I think your guests will be glad not to have to wait around for you to show up to dinner!

This is the timeline our WP provided

2:30- Ceremony WP
3:30-4:30 pre-reception
4:30-8 p.m. reception
8-10 p.m. Dessert Party

Hope that helps!!

We're switching to Napa now I think, so doing a 10am ceremony to avoid a minimum we won't be able to reach with a small number of guests. We're still doing a DP though, we're just going to give our guests a break in the middle so they can refresh for a couple of hours.

Wishes in August is usually at 10pm and I think the earlier in the day, the cooler it will be. When we wanted our reception at Whitehall we were going to do 12pm Ceremony, 1pm-2pm Cocktail, 2pm-6pm Reception, then break before DP at night.

Not sure if this helps!

I'm pretty sure we're going to do a first look, I love how they turn out, but with our 5 pm ceremony, even if we shorten the cocktail hour we'll still "lose" that reception hour if we do a dessert party. I just don't like the idea of paying a DJ basically $375 just to sit there for an hour. :confused3 I know I should just get over it and it's not that different than having a Viennese hour that closes the dance floor.

Hmm, that makes me think maybe we could do that, is Wishes earlier in March? When we have our Wedding it will be at 10 pm. But if I made the dessert party longer that might work, like 8:30 - 10:30. Are you going to have food service for the whole time? Or just the first hour?

I love the restaurant locations but DF wants a dinner reception, he wants it to be more like a wedding back here which are basically always dinner receptions. I would love a nice break like that in the day though, especially in August when I'm sure it will be ridiculously hot.

I had a Sago cay dessert party, we got married at 2.30pm, cocktail hour was 3.30-4.30, we then ate dinner walked to Sago Cay at 9.30 and went back to the reception afterwards to dance the night away. I loved that my reception was long and we didn't rush anything.

Thanks Pinkerbell,

Did it cost a lot extra to do this? My planner was telling me it would be an extra $400 per hour plus any DJ fees and food and drink service.

It was $400 per hour that I paid. I didn't have a package bar, mt guests paid for their own drinks, so I had no extra to pay for that, and we had the ipod set up so we didn't need to pay extra for that either. All we paid was the $400 per hour

We had a 5pm wedding with a DP at Sago Cay.

Yes, time did run out, but we still had a really long wedding. WISHES was at 10 for our wedding, and by the time everything was over, we were ready for it to be.

So, if you still want to keep the 5pm slot, you have plenty of time. We lost an hour with the DJ, but oh well. There's no way I could have gone back to Whitehall for more after the DP. I was tired!
