Wowed my family with AKV.

This is good to know. AKV impressed my DH...he wasn't thrilled when I wanted to add on there, but felt much better about the purchase after staying there, only in a savannah view studio, but still, it won him over!

How crowded will it be for us in a studio (me, DH, DS, DDL, 21 month old grandbaby)?:grouphug:

I brought eight people to AKL yesterday. So nine of us in a two bedroom. It really isn't so bad. It will be nice to have the extra bathroom in the new section. My family was floored when they walked into the lobby, AKL really does make a great first impression. I am in a Savanna View on the 5th floor and the view is amazing. I am so glad that I bought points here.

I'm so happy that everything was great! We're going in Nov. with my in-laws and am hoping to "wow" them also. So far they have stayed with us at OKW and loved it. We added on at AKLV's (after falling in love after a stay there two summer's ago) and can't wait for our upcoming stay in a 2 bedroom-savanna view!

I suppose you're going to find out!!! You are better equipped to answer that. Have you ever stayed with your DS, DDiL in a room before? We haven't and I know my DH wouldn't be comfortabe doing so. I know that when I had my own DS's it was hard enough with the 2 boys and DH and myself in a single room.

You'll remember this trip, the views and animals and the accomodations. I hope it all goes well!!

I would probably go for 2 value studios, take my chance with the view.

Like the studios in most of the other DVC resorts (except OKW of course) the AKV studios have one queen bed and a full-size sofa bed. As part of the conversion, the large closet has been replaced by the kitchenette. They kept the double sink vanity so that left no room to add a new closet next to the vanity, so instead they put a medium-sized wardrobe in the living/sleeping area for hanging clothes. If you get a lockoff studio, half of the wardrobe will be filled with the vacuum cleaner, ironing board, etc. If you get a dedicated studio, there will be a little broom closet near the entryway to hold those things, leaving more room in the wardrobe for clothes. So I think the biggest issue with the AKV studios is the lack of storage space, particularly for things you want to hang up or just stash in a closet. The second issue is that the only place someone could change clothes privately would be in the little room with the tub and toilet, and there is barely room to turn around in there! I guess the third issue would be finding room to set up the pack 'n play -- the addition of the wardrobe to the living/sleeping area eliminated the only open floor space in the room.

I don't think I would try 4 adults and a baby, with all the baby gear, in a studio........you will feel like you are climbing over one another. Also, as above poster said there is only a wardrobe in the current AKV studios for storage and really no privacy for changing clothes, showering, etc. I think a better choice for you would be 2 studios, since even with a 1 bedroom with the kitchen area wouldn't really give you any separation time at all, not to mention only 1 bath to be shared by 4 adults........this will really cut into your prep time to get ready and out the door every day.

We have taken family members with us in the past and haven't had that type of reaction. I could imagine how I would have felt if I had. Sorry that your generosity has gone unappreciated. Could it be that they are a little jealous of your new "home away from home"?

They may have been a little jealous that their little sister had a Disney timeshare, or they aren't that into Disney, or they think only morons buy timeshares. They definitely thought BWV made things very inconvenient to get off property to do things. :sad2:

My niece and 2 nephews think I am the coolest aunt ever! :dance3: The two older ones have mentioned going back and my nephews  their lanyards and pins!

Well my family left on Sunday and the four of us moved from AKV to a one bedroom at BWV. I had been on a waitlist for a Boardwalk View, but it never came through. I checked in and was very surprised with my view. It is amazing. I am on the fourth floor, room 4051. I am on the corner of the main courtyard. From my balconey I can see the courtyard, the water, the boardwalk on the Inn side, Illiminations and Wishes. I hit the great view jackpot this trip. I did take pictures from both rooms but I can't post them until I get home. Over all this has been a great trip and I still have five more days to go.

I am a new member to DVC. Please tell me was there 2 bathrooms or just one with the 2 bedroom? My points UY is December and I will have enough points to et a room in May, if I can. Do you know if you have to wait for your points to drop or can you go ahead and make the ressie ahead of the drop?
I do have another question, we are bringing friends with us this year and would like to know, if we can't get a 2 bedroom, can you get 2 studios at the same time(same week)? I know it's a newbie question, but we just weren't sure.:laundy:  :)

There are two bathrooms in the 2BRs in Jambo House. There will be three bathrooms in the Kidani Village 2BRs.

You can book a stay at your home resort starting 11 months prior to your check out date regardless of your Use Year. A reservation for May 2008 can be booked now (actually it could have been booked as early as June 2007). Your points don't really "drop" into your account, they are already there. Each set of points have a set of dates associated with them that indicate the dates of stay for which those points can be used. Your Dec 2007 points can be used to for stays between Dec 1, 2007 and Nov 30, 2008.

Yes you can book two studios for the same week. You can book as many rooms as your points will allow.

On Great Hotels, Samantha Brown called VWL and "eyes up, jaw down" hotel. I'd say that goes for AKL, too!

We will be making ressies for AKV at the end of this month for our trip to in May. I am so excited to hear all of these great things about AKV

Just curious, everyone says the savannah view is worth it. Just how close are the animals? Also, a CM told me about night vision goggles?? Haven't been yet but cant wait. ...Planning AKV 2009?????
