I brought eight people to AKL yesterday. So nine of us in a two bedroom. It really isn't so bad. It will be nice to have the extra bathroom in the new section. My family was floored when they walked into the lobby, AKL really does make a great first impression. I am in a Savanna View on the 5th floor and the view is amazing. I am so glad that I bought points here.

I'm glad that you were wowed. It's getting me excited for next week.

I will be at the Animal Kingdom Villas from Tuesday through early Saturday morning. I'm anxious to see the rehabbed rooms!

Good for you!!!! I am looking for the same experience in Nov. bringing my 78 year youg mother to VWL for the Christmas season. I hope it knocks her socks off!

We are the same - bringing the kids and in-laws to VWL next April and really hoping they will be impressed as we were when we first saw it.

to me the AKV is much, much better than just the AKL rooms.

Love it!

We stayed 5 nights in August in a SV villa. The resort is absolutely fabulous! And how can you not be impressed when you stand on your balcony and 3 giraffes and 2 zebra walk by right below you! You really get immersed in the theming of the resort.

I am desperate to take my mom on a WDW trip. She is coming around to the idea. I know she will be a convert once she stays with us at AKV!

My mom wanted to let everyone know that the pullout bed is very comfortable. My six foot tall, 21 year old brother has been sleeping on the chair bed and he said it was great too. So no need to worry about putting people on the pullouts.

This is good to know. AKV impressed my DH...he wasn't thrilled when I wanted to add on there, but felt much better about the purchase after staying there, only in a savannah view studio, but still, it won him over!

Im liking what I am hearing about AKV. We were there a couple of years ago and loved it. We just made our first DVC ressie this AM for an April trip at AKV and we can't wait. (Home resort = SSR.)

We are bringing my mom and mom-in-law with us but they think we are staying at a 2BR at SSR. They should be in for a nice surprise when they see AKV.

Oh, did I mention that we are going to stay in a Grand Villa at AKV? :) (Thank you double developer points!!)
Yeah, they dont know that either, nor do they know that we are now members of DVC in general. :) This will be a nice way to break the news.

when we visited AKL in September (to eat dinner there at Boma) we were floored when we walked inside the main lobby! Right before we walked in my husband said to me "so this lobby is supposed to be awesome huh?" and even knowing that ahead of time and being able to prepare yourself for it.. it still didn't lessen the effect.

I wish I could have seen the rooms there... all we saw was the lobby and we did walk outside a little ways and look at some animals ....

the only thing to me at least.. it does seem like there is less walking around room at the AKL.. am I wrong about this? Like, I like how at other resorts you can stroll the grounds and take in scenic walks.. and it looks to me (just from what I've seen of the layout) that AKL is mostly just the savanna and there's not a lot of places for people to just roam around themselves.

AKL and AKV won't have alot of outside walking area - but to make up for that - in several viewing places - they have seating. So I think you are expected to walk inside the building?

I am so glad your folks were impressed!

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but we took my 2 sisters and their families last April to our new home at Boardwalk Villas. We stayed in a 2 bedroom and a studio. The sister sharing the two bedroom was pleased but not overly excited and the other sister in the studio actually complained. Although they had other expenses, (tickets, food, POP 1 night) 5 nights accommodations at the BWV were free to them.

It is possible that you won't be pleased with the reaction. I really, really wish I had taken the children to WDW and left their parents at home!

:scared1: Your sister had free accomodations for most of her trip and complained???? Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is the one downside to AKL/AKV. I've stayed at AKL a few times and love it there, but I do miss being able to take a walk after dinner. With those long hallways you can get in some walking just going to and from your room a couple times a day but it's not the same as being able to take a nice stroll outside.

An essential part of AKL/AKV's theming is that most of the grounds are occupied by the savannas, but I wish they would create a walking path somewhere else on the grounds so that we could get a little outdoor exercise when we're there.

She sure did! Her preferred view overlooked the Village Green with a view of Epcot, she had a huge balcony, and one of the non-connecting studios with a day bed. Last week she asked my other sister if she wants to share a condo at the beach next year. No good deed goes unpunished! I'm waiting to see if an invite is forthcoming.

:thumbsup2

Ain't that the truth

We have taken family members with us in the past and haven't had that type of reaction. I could imagine how I would have felt if I had. Sorry that your generosity has gone unappreciated. Could it be that they are a little jealous of your new "home away from home"?
