In the mail today I received a DVD copy of my dds brain MRI.

I watched it and it was really surreal. I mean you see it on TV and such but when its your own childs brain its just a weird feeling.

I didnt know they were going to send that to us. Good to have though I guess. :confused3

How did she do? I was on your other thread but lost it somewhere..

I had one today also of my brain and I started to have a panic attack and came very close to pushing the emergency button.. I never had an enclosed MRI before and now I know why.. They last one I had was an open MRI.. and when I go again.. It will be open..

:scared1: Did they give you a valium or anything? I started to have a closed one a fe wmonths ago after a fall and got about half way in and said "Nope not gonna happen, get me outa here!" I did much better in the open one.

Her results came out totally normal. Which leaves us back to square one. Im thrilled that the she didnt have the birth defect. I am just really frustrated that we know less than we did when we started. Now we only have one test left that is feasible, the genetic testing and I have been warned off form that. They really dont think its anything genetic anyway.

So good news is she is normal. Bad news is, she isnt normal and we dont know whats causing it.

I can imagine it would be strange. It's not really the same thing, but I think I can relate. My youngest DS had Craniosynostosis, his soft spot closed up when he was 15 months old. He had surgery to correct it, where they took part of his skull out and he now has titanium plates, etc. We still have the copy of the CT scan where you can see it.

Anyway, the neurosurgeon showed us pictures that were taken during the surgery, and it almost felt like an invasion of his privacy or something. Those really aren't the words I'm looking for, but I can't come up with them.

Hugs to you and your dd, not knowing what's going on seems really unfair. I hope you can find the answer soon.

Steph

No, they didn't give me anything.. They made it worse my making me wear ear plugs, so now everything is muffled and sounds exactly like what I hear when I have an attack and pass out.. Then they putting padding by my head on both sides so I don't move.. And padding at my arms.. If there wasn't a fan blowing cold air on me.. and a small mirror that reflected the door and the window where the nurse sits behind.. I would of lost it.. :guilty:

I am very sorry they didn't find anything wrong with your DD but at the same time Congats that she passed her MRI

Thats how the original one was for me. I was ready to pass out at the thought I never really thought of myself as claustrophobic but :scared1:
