WOW!!impressed with my disney experience

I know the old Disney website used to let you pay off what ever you wanted on your hotel room whenever you wanted prior to your trip. It seems you cannot do this anymore? :confused3

Yes you can. I paid off my trip online via MDE. On the website (not the app) once your reservation info loads a link beside your remaining balance will appear. It may take a few moments to load, but when loaded completely it'll say "make a payment".

The exceptions to this are those who have a room only reservation or are outside the US. If you are one of those, you don't have access to online payment.

Don't get me wrong. I don't think the old website was any better. Disney has a decades long history of having a substandard website. I'll give OP the benefit of the doubt that maybe things are starting to turn around. But given the vast number of reports to the contrary, you'll have to forgive me if I'm still a bit skeptical of Disney IT.

I agree with a history of poorly designed websites. For years could not use Firefox with the sites. Even now, Disney IT has a way to go. However, I am hearing a lot of reports of no problems. In general (not just Disney) I expect to hear more from folks who have problems, as they are looking for solutions, or just in general want to vent.

I am hoping that Disney IT is improving and will continue to improve both the MDE website and the MDE app. I think? that I am hearing that it is happening.

Were you using the computer and website or the app?

iPad app.

Just checked mine, and they're not gone, they're just stuck in a loading pattern with the little spinny thing. I bet they'll load just fine if I check later.

Most every site I visit goes down at one point or another. This is my favourite resource when that kind of thing happens: http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

Thanks. It's not down, it's showing my other resort reservations, just no ADRs.

I'm sure they'll show up later.

I was really just asking as a general question. Is it a false perception that ADRs need to be booked at 180 days or a reality? Has 180 become a modern day Disney old wives tale or is it a true fact and I just have Tinkerbell fluttering behind me with pixie dust at the ready?

I booked everything at 180 + 10, as I generally do, but we have been swapping and changing a lot as this is just a different kind of holiday for us (we're breaking it up with a week on the Fantasy, so will likely be rather over huge meals by the time we are back at the World). I've had no trouble changing meals, getting signatures at 19:00, character breakfasts at 0800 in MK & DAK... and this is all for Memorial Weekend & the week after. I have no idea if this is now the norm, and I certainly wouldn't wander up to the restaurant without an ADR, but it has been interesting.

I haven't had many issues with the website either, but perhaps I have been lucky :confused3

I can do very little on the app (iPhone 5s). The computer is marginally better, but one day I had to try Firefox, Chrome and then Explorer to get anything done.

I *am* happy for people who have no issues with the app or website, I just wish I was one of them!

And yes, calling in is an option. However, I was on hold the other day for 20 minutes, and I hate having to go through all my info every time I call.

I definitely think Disney's servers cannot handle the traffic when everyone is trying at 6am.

My dh is in IT/IS and I know things get pushed through with inadequate testing and debugging. I just think if you are going to roll out a billion $ program, glitches and errors should be the exception and not the rule.

And I am only a vulture around Krispy Kreme donuts & Oreos! ::yes::

I really liked the My Disney Experience back in November. It would glitch on me and freeze sometimes. But on average to worked well.

Compared to times when you did not have the ability to change lunch and dinner reservations or change fast pass selections it was really nice. :)

I do not know much about servers - but I wondered about that. Also, once you sign up for your MDE, are you assigned to a particular server? Could some of the servers be performing better than others?

Agree with the KK and Oreos

Mine are all showing up now, just fine!

The one thing I do wish the website would do (which it's never done, ever) is include my behind the scenes tours. I mean, we get a confirmation number for them, so why don't they show up in our plans?

I just write them into the notes section, which is fine, but it'd be nice if they were already there with everything else.

(Takes another peek at Dessert Party ressie... yay!)

I just logged in to check ADRs and mine were all gone. I expect they'll show up again later, because that's just how it's been. Last time, the guests listed on the reservations weren't correct. Still needs fixing, and the FP+ interface, implementation and flow need a redeisgn.

Definitely. Please, Disney!

I was on the site early this morning for about half an hour and then it kept giving me error pages. However it allowed me to book one more day of FP+ (I'm 87 days out :rolleyes1)

You know, I know the glitches exist, but our October trip, was practically flawless (and we switched from old site to new site midway through planning, along with FP+ testing). I was also able to change our FP+ on the fly 98% of the time (I was physically on a ride once and tried to switch and it wouldn't let me. Once I got off the ride I could though ;) ). So, I don't know. I think it's entirely possible to have zero problems, but I think it's definitely not the norm ;)
I had a good experience last December and so far for my April trip. I think it can depend on what browser you use and your cellphone.

Probably true. Many of my work stuff only works using IE. I use Chrome normally though and haven't had any problems so far using MDE in Chrome.

I've heard enough bad stuff about the App to make me start testing MDE in Safari on my phone so I can use the website in Safari and avoid the App all together.

ITA. We made our November reservations only 2-3 weeks ago, and they've already lost our reservations once. They came back, but a glitch is a glitch. I can honestly say I've ever signed into travel reservation sites and been worried about whether or not my reservation info will be there. Disney has a long history of poorly functioning/designed (navigation wise, not aesthetics) websites, and MDE is no exception, IMO. I really hope they work these glitches out soon.

I can't say that the app is any worse or better than the website. My experience has just been different issues and sometimes at different times. I'm on iPhone 5S for the app if that makes a difference.

Off topic slightly, but I don't suppose anyone knows how to delete show reminders from the itinerary ....?? There were 3 fireworks shows I added and didn't notice at the time that the date I selected defaulted back to the current date. So now I have some March reminders for my June/July trip

I am outside the US but my last trip it allowed me to do so. :confused3
