Wow, I sure love my DVC membership!!

We are coming down to WDW the week of May 17 and staying at VWL. Well as usual, we are driving down the day before but not checking into our unit until Sunday. Sometimes we stay at Pop Century and sometimes we stop in St. Augustine when we do this. Well I saw where the AP rates came out today for that time period, so I called to get a ressie at Pop. Even with the AP discount that Pop room (standard) is still $129 for the one night. I couldn't believe it. I was thinking it would be down in the $60-70 range as described on MouseSavers. I asked the CM about this and she said May was an extremely busy time at WDW. I kept thinking if that is the AP rate, what is the rack rate. It sure makes me thankful for our DVC contracts that's for sure. That one night is costing me more than all the rest of the nights combined (which is zero ). Sorry for the rant, but I still can't believe it.

I know what you are talking about. We are booked at AKV-Kidani 5/22 - 5/29. We are arriving 5/21 and wanted to stay at a value. When I got pricing it's was around $130 (that's before the AP rates came out). I couldn't see spending that money for a value. Dh suggested that we book another DVC night, which we did at BWV's and it only turned out to be 11 points.

This is why we decided on DVC. We were never able to get the "deals" on the room rates that we had in the past. Now we don't have to worry.

Well an update. I called Disney reservations back and asked about why no AP discount and was told they are not available for Friday and Saturday nights BUT I was able to get a AAA discount which dropped the total cost down from $129 to $109. This is still not the $60-70 rate I was hoping for, but I checked the Hampton Inn we usually stay at in St. Augustine and it was up in the $110 range also. I guess tourism is Florida in doing alright during this recession.
