... and just think, when Remy's, Tron, and Guardians of the Galaxy are all using virtual queue, Rise of the Resistance hype will finally simmer down to where this will become the norm.
Park crowds are much lower than normal for this time of year -- the majority of our trips have been mid to late August so just comparing apples to apples experiences and looking at touring plans historical crowds.
When we were at hollywood studios last week, the 1pm boarding groups were not fully gone by 7pm so they just started letting people on the standby line even without a boarding group.
COVID anxiety aside, this was probably the best trip we've ever had as far as theme park experience goes because wait times were so short for every attraction at every park.
Was there last week. After 4pm I walked onto MFSR, ToT, MMRRR, and waited 15 minutes for SDD. Parks seemed pretty busy early but petered out as the day went on. Maybe everyone goes to Epcot for F&W?
The only way paid reservations work on a ride is if that ride isn't otherwise available. Can you imagine the complaints they'd get if people are shelling out $20 per person to ride something, only to have it freely available with virtually no wait?
Disney will have to restrict boarding groups, up to and including (I assume) not running the ride at full capacity.
Now, come Oct. 1 (and some hopefully reduced Covid numbers) ROTR may be packed again naturally. But I figure that one way or another, Disney will be 100% sure that it's plenty hard enough to get a boarding group regardless of demand.
I hope this lasts through my trip in September. I have huge anxiety about the stupid Rise boarding groups because my husband is a huge Star Wars fan and ROTR and MFSF are his only "must-do" rides this trip.
