I apologize if someone mentioned this already but I just saw a TV ad for "atkins friendly" wraps at Subway...less than 11 net carbs!

Here is the info:

On December 29, Subway Restaurants will offer two Atkins® Nutritionals, Inc.-endorsed low-carbohydrate wraps: the Turkey and Bacon Melt Wrap, with Monterey cheddar cheese, and the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap, with Swiss cheese. Both Atkins® -Friendly Wraps, available in the U.S. and Canada, have 11 grams Net Carbs or less, and the wrap itself, which is made with wheat gluten, cornstarch, oat, sesame flour and soy protein, has only 5 grams Net Carbs.
Subway Restaurants is proud to be the first quick serve restaurant to partner with Atkins® Nutritionals Inc. The partnership will benefit the millions of people who have chosen to manage their weight and overall health by following the Atkins Nutritional Approach™.

I'm so excited about this. DH asked our local Subway if they have the wraps. The people that work there said the wraps are there but they are not allowed to sell any until Dec. 29th. I'll be one of the first in line!!! ::yes::

I haven't been to Subway in years- now I've got a few reasons to go back there.

This is great news! I love Subway, but haven't had it in so long!! Thanks for the heads up, Alex! :)

I think everyone knows that I am not a big fan of "mock danish" and atkins bars or fake anything. I think these may be different though...
wouldn't it be great to be able to grab 1 of these a day without killing ketosis?
I think we will definitely need to run that experiment!!

I wanted to expand on my latest "theory" a bit.
Most of the mock danish, atkins bar etc stuff uses a theory known as "effective carbs".
Basically they say that the alcohol sugars don't count cause they are absorbed slowly or not at all. There is a bunch of stuff on the net as well as our own experiences that show that may not be true.
With the wraps the theory is that fiber isn't really absorbed. That makes a bit more sense to me so I think these may work better that the fake sweet stuff.
Hard to tell till we give it a try.
Anyone want to run a 1 subway wrap experiment a day once these come out :)

I had one at lunch today! The "wrap" was actually a whole-wheat low-carb tortilla - just like the "La Tortilla" ones I buy at the grocery store. 5 grams for the tortilla.

I had the turkey bacon sandwich with cheese, lettuce, green peppers, tomatoes, pickles, and mayo.

It was pretty good! I would definitely get one again! ::yes::
