I just checked for airfare for next April/May. I can't believe how much the fares are right now. From MHT/MCO they are about 450.00!! Usually, they are at least 1/2 that! I hope these go down later with changes in gas prices etc...Maybe next year we will just stay home.

I agree - DH & I were looking at air fare this afternoon and are thinking about maybe driving down next May. Annmarie

Rising fuel prices will do that. I would like to see the fuel prices drop, but, unless you know something the rest of us don't, I would not expect to see that.

Although Manchester is more convenient for me than Boston, on average I find better fares or better flights from Boston.

Have you tried different dates, maybe just one or two days' difference? Just tried April 20-28 using Travelocity.com, saw $260. round trip.

We gave up the ghost and decided to fly out of Boston for the first time in years for next Feb vaca. We got Song flights for $228 round trip w/all taxes on direct flights.

We'll either do a park and fly ($150ish for the Sheraton includes parking the whole time) or take a limo into town. It'd cost about $80 for parkin for 8 days in Manchester I think.

Can't beat Manchester for convenience though.

The ticket prices for 2005 you now see are figuring in the knee-jerk reaction to current gas prices. Remember, the US has never seen oil barrel prices this high. and being an election year, you can bet both sides will be making lower prices or dependence an issue. Also, depending on what happens in the next 6 months with prices and/or volume for the airlines, you could see a significant drop. My advice would be to wait until locking in your seats. I believe you'll see some relief and if not, it's good you have a plan B.

I think I would hold off on any purchase of 2005 air tickets if it were my vacation. The prices will go down...as the last poster said...its a knee jerk reaction. The airlines won't survive if everyone keeps passing on flying anywhere due to airfare costs. Eventually they will have to do a little give and take. Right now, they're in take mode...

I'm personally going on a honeymoon next May and I probably won't even attempt air until January of next year.

Right now,can hope things will improve and we see a drop in future.Booked ATA for December trip and fare this year compared to last was up 30%.::MickeyMo

For most of the major carriers, this is normal and has little or nothing to do with the fuel prices. The carries just don't bother to put seats on sale this early. The almost never go on sale until less than 6 months prior, and usually it's more like 3 or 4 months before. They wait to see A) what the competition does and B) how full their own flights are before putting flights on sale. So they have to wait until closer to the departure date to figure out how much to discount the fares.

Don't worry, the fares will go down eventually!
