Would you wear linen on an airplane for a long flight

I am wondering because I saw a lady on our last flight to Hawaii in all white linen outfit. Yeah it wrinkled but she still looked great. I have since thought how comfortable that would be.
I am assuming it was a linen/expensive outfit because it survived the 5.5 hr flight looking pretty decent.

just curious...:p

ITA! If she was wearing a nice white linen suit, I'm also betting she was wearing pantyhose and nice shoes. I can't imagine sitting in a cramped space in those type of clothes, unless of course, she was in first class and had lots of room! My luck, I would have spilled one of those yummy Mai Tai's on my white linen suit when we hit some turbulence.

I guess it wasn't really a suit...but matching top/pants.

She was wearing sandals and looked really comfy.

ditto.

I always look like a bum when flying. And instead of being envious of the really nicely dressed ladies, I always feel sorry for them to be so uncomfortable...:teeth:

I'm with you. But I do recall a time when air travel meant yu dressed up. Thank goodness for progress.

Ever take your shoes off for a long filght? My friend did when we were going to SF. We landed, and she absolutely could not get her feet back into her shoes, and refused to walk out barefoot. Turned out that my cousin's fiance, whom we had not yet met, was sitting in the row in front of us wondering who the heck the idiot was who could not get her shoes back on.

I t6o look like a bum when flying. Well just about anyway. I would never dress for fashion on a plane. It is either shorts if we are going to warmer weather or jeans if we are going to colder weather. Who really cares what they look like on a plane? Would you care any differently if you were on a bus?

I still like to dress up when I fly. A knit skirt and top at least.
Linen really travels well, comfy! Neatly dressed travellers are
treated better, given upgrades when bumps are necessary and
in general shown more courtesy. I've tried it both ways and I'm
never in too casual clothes.

My favorite maternity outfit is a pair of linen pants with a button down loose fitting shirt - it is totally comfortable and looks nice even after a long day of work and commuting!

ITA with this. It's worked for us and others that we know. I don't go as far as pantyhose and heels but do wear nice pants and a top. DH wears khakis and a button down shirt. I always put DD in something nice as well. Well behaved/well dressed children are treated especially nice.

I absolutely love linen(my Mom hates it because of the wrinkles)....but it "breathes in the heat..&stays attractive-and even the looser tops and bottoms are fashionable

I think that is a huge generalization. We have always been bumped up when in our dreadful shorts or jeans! LOL! Last time all 5 of us were bumped up to first class and we wore shorts and t-shirts. Really it is how you act and not the clothes one wears that shows class.

I go go for comfort. Clothes that are not fitting in any way & something you can relax in & not worry if you'll spoil.

Though I'm sure she looked nice, I dress for comfort on planes.

That's after the woman next to me was holding her toddler and gave him a lollipop which ended up in my hair and on my clothes.

Or, the woman that slept on my shoulder for 3 hrs because she had taken medication to combat her flight anxiety.

Comfort is better
::yes::

Linen is very comfortable, it wrinkles, but who cares! I have several linen camp shirts from LL Bean that I wear all summer. LL Bean now classifies them in their "cool shirt" (as in temp) category. They also have pants, crop pants, and linen T separates that look smart, and casual. I think it's a good choice for travel, and I never wear heels or pantyhose! ;)

I think everyone missed my point. Linen is really comfortable. I thought the lady looked really comfortable and survived the flight looking pretty decent.
I was never asking about style over comfort. Just if I would look toooo messy in linen.

thanks for all the replies, I appreciate it. :D

I wear linen when I fly, LOL it's already wrinkled before I get to the airport, so what's a few more!

Yardbird....I just went to LL Bean and checked out their "cool" shirts and linen. They have really cute stuff !!!
