Hi experts...here is the scoop.

We have annual passes that expire Jan 8 2011...we had planned a trip in Dec but may change to Nov...coming home Nov 20th. We planned to renew our annual passes while on our trip bc we have vouchers from give a day get a day..so we will get 79$ off each renewal plus our DVC discount..well if we go in November it is more than 40 days from our exp date.

Hubby called and spoke to Courtney in ticketing and she said that they would renew on Nov 20th...would you trust this info even though it is more than the 40 days berore exp..?

Nope, I wouldn't.

Disney is good at a lot of things, but giving the same answer twice isn't one of them. The published time line is 30 days, not 40. Exceptions or mistakes can be made but I wouldn't count on it.

I think it's likely you'll be able to do it. If the first guest relations says no then try later or at another location.

We've been able to renew after the 30 days so I wouldn't think that 10 days early would be a problem - at least system wise. It will depend more on the CM.

I sent disney an email regarding this and am waiting to hear back. I gave them the castmembers name that gave me the info. Hopefully this will help.

I would say possibly. I had an AP that expired Jan. (17th I think). I didn't think I'd be renewing it this year. I also had the GAD voucher which I knew I could not use over the phone or internet for renewal. My next trip was scheduled for March 11-16, 1 month past the 30 day renewal window. I had planned to use my GAD for upgrading to a non-expiring ticket, but just brought my AP with me just in case. I was not expecting them to renew it but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. I went to guest relations at the International Gateway & politely told the CM I had a AP that expired & was it possible to still get the renewal. She said they would do it as a one time exception. I was thrilled. Not only was I able to use the GAD towards it, but I also got the 15 mos. instead of 12 for the renewal & applied a bunch of Disney Visa reward dollars towards it. My 15 mo. renewal cost my a grand total of $84.00. I wouldn't expect it but it doesn't hurt to ask. The worst they can say is no.

And you will get $84 off with the GAD- I just did on Tuesday. :thumbsup2

I guess I'm confused...why does it matter if the passes are renewed at the park or at home through the mail (or on-line)?

That's really great! We go in December, and that's the month of our renewals. Doing the GAD was rewarding by itself, and this extra bonus of being able to use the voucher for the renewal is awesome!

Don't know if the "issue" is the GAD voucher...but if it isn't: I've renewed our APs every year for the last 4...each time right around the time the prices went up (in the summer; can't remember exactly when--maybe June?...always see it on DIS)...up til this past year, our expiration date was in November (w/the 15 months, it's now Feb)...never a problem; always got the $100 DVC discount, and the "old" price (when I saw the news that prices were going up early enough)...and last year also got the extra 3 months as well as the pre-price increase price...

Bottom line: I've never, in several years in a row of renewing, had a problem renewing months and months early...

Did it online a time or two, by phone a time or two, and then did pick-up (using the vouchers they mailed) at Guest Relations (once at Downtown Disney/Marketplace; once at Downtown Disney/West Side; once at Hollywood Studios; once at International Gate by Epcot...

Good luck

Good luck

thanks...that is good to know. We really wanted to use the vouchers because in addition to the DVC discount, we will have 80$ or so taken off of the price:) we can't do it online or over the phone

Sorry if I'm being one of "those" people, but would anyone tell me what a GAD voucher is?

Ok, wouldn't you know I would find it right after I posted this! :sad2: Thanks anyway!
