I don't have the link but an 86 year old man came from NY to Ct. to visit his daughers. While here he was hospitalized from a recoverable injury. His Ct. daughters petitioned a probate court judge (very losely defined in Ct) to assign guardianship and power of attorney. They stuck him in a nursing home for 10 months, moved in on his finances and were in the process of selling his Long Island home. Last week a Superior Court judge restored his independence, stopped the sale of his house and chastised the daughters and the probate judge. He said in his decision, "since when does a Ct. probate judge have jurisdiction over a visitor from another state?". That would be like forcing tourists to pay the state income tax in Ct because they took a vacation here once. He is returning home to NY and will be assisted by another daughter who at least respected her Dad.

The blame might fall on the partners of the daughters.

No "partners" were referred to. I would guess that the daughters were on their own with regard to selfish behavior. But on the other hand, the daughters were certainly "partners" in crime in perpetrating this injustice on their father. I wonder what the law firm partners had to say about this case when they represented the father in court. Now that the father is back home, perhaps he can find a dance partner and enjoy life. Gee, partners can be used in a lot of ways.
