Would you take your double stroller or rent?

Our kids will be 3 1/2 years old, and 7 months old when we go in January for 12 days. We're staying at the Poly, can you keep the stoller open when you ride the monorail and boat? So we would only have to worry about carrying it on the bus when we went to AK and Hollywood Studios. It's a new Graco, so it folds pretty well and is about 30 pounds. Would a 7 mo old be OK in one of the rented ones? Does anyone have problems with them being stolen? TIA, Stephanie

Take your stroller. An infant will not work in a rented double. They are hard and not made for an infant. We kept our stroller up numerous times on the monorail. You just have to go in the handicap area. I know there are certain boats you can take them on certain ones you have to fold them down on. I'd recommend taking a sling for the baby also. Very helpful when you are standing in line.

I totally agree with the PP. We had no problems wheeling our SBS double onto the monorail so I think a thandem would be good to. If you have a sling or a bjorn, that's wonderful to have too because there is so much more flexibility! My 7 month old son went on most of the rides in the bjorn!

I agree with the PP 100% :thumbsup2 I'll add that on our last trip, we rented a double for our 6 year old and 3 year old and had our own stroller for the 3 month old. We are going back in a few weeks and mentioned to the kids that we are planning to do the same as last year. They revolted and begged us to bring our double for them (our oldest is literally the size of an average 4-5 year old, so even she rides quite a bit). They said that the rentals are not comfortable at all for riding in for long periods of time.

Definitely bring a sling or some kind of baby carrier for lines; it will make things a lot more pleasant for you guys.

We're taking ours and now I'm feeling better about it. We needed it outside of Disney though so we have to take it, but I was worried about the park. Thanks!

One year we went with my son & nephew, both 3. We bought 2 cheap umbrella strollers from Target, and I found these joiners for umbrella strollers that were easy to put on & take off...so we could turn them into a double stroller when we were all going to the same place, and unhook them & use as singles when going 2 different places - like if 1 kid wanted to ride something, and the other kid was going with grandma into the shops...easier to navigate.
