Would you take your 3 year old on Space Mountain?

If he is tall enough, sure. You do realize that the top speed for that coaster is about 25 mph. I'm not one to talk, my son was always tall very very tall and big for his age.-now hes over 6 feet! We went on a trip when he began at age 3 and turned four on the trip. On this trip he was measured and WANTED to go on all of the rides. He did everything including Tower of Terror and even RockNRoller Coaster if I recall correctly. He hated Tower of Terror -liked the house aspect, the ride itself until it started dropping. He ADORED Rock N Roller Coaster.

I have a mixed opinion on this! I would have no problem taking him on Space Mtn at Disneyland where he would sit next to you, but I am apprehensive about my 5yr old going on Space Mtn at Magic Kingdom because he will sit by himself. He has no issue with it..he can't wait for Expedition Everest! It's just me and I will probably have to get over it. I have found that Utube has great video's of rides. Sit and go through some with him and it will likely give you a good idea about how he will feel about it! Have a great time!!

You know your child best...would he enjoy it? Just because you can, doesn't mean you have to. It may be nice to have a "new" ride up your sleeve for future trips!

It would depend on the child. My older son, who is tall & met most height requirements at 3, is a chicken. He didn't get on SM until he was 10. My younger son, who is a daredevil, is short, and couldn't get on until he was 6. FWIW, if he had been tall enough at 3, I would have taken him on SM. If your child enjoys thrill rides and meets the height requirements, go for it! You could try Goofy's Barnstormer first to see if he likes roller coaster type rides.

At 3, we decided against it for our son. He was tall enough. But the seats are front and back, instead of side to side. I'd feel better about side to side just in case he got scared while on the ride.

No, mostly because of the seperate compartmentalized seats. DS rode EE last year at 5 and loved it, but I'm happy that SM was closed during our trip because I wouldn't have quite been ready to have him seperated from us in the dark like that, he's a daredevil and I guess I worry more about what he think he might be able to do.

My dd4 went on Space Mountain (and Tower of Terror). She loved them both. I hesitated with the front/back seat positions for a second on Space Mountain, but figured, even if she was scared, the ride was pretty quick---so it would be over before she knew it. She loved it!

She didn't like the looks of Expedition Everest though----so we held off until she is ready.

No, only because of the single file seating arrangement. I think my kids were 5 before they rode it and at that point we knew that they were OK with a dark ride and they loved coasters so we knew they could handle mom being behind them.

I took both my boys on Space Mountain when they were three and they loved it! The first time I just kept my hands on their shoulders the entire ride. After that they told me they did not need any help. I say yes, but you need to know your child.

At Disneyland yes DD went on it at 3.5yrs she is a super tall girl and we able to ride it. However, I do not think I would let her at 3 yrs go on it at WDW if its single seats and not side by side where I could ride with her.

I wuld have taken my 3 year old dd on it had it been open when we went there in september. she absolutley loves fast rides, loved loved loved fast track, wanted to go on tower of terror and rock n roller coaster, but she wasnt big enough

So many say that Space is very different between the two parks. Also, it's 44" at WDW vs 40", which is weird, b/c people say WDW's version is more like Matterhorn, but of course Matterhorn is 35"! Confusing.

If DD was tall enough and wanted to go on it, sure! She's a dare devil though...lol. I seriously hope she'll be 40" that a lot of the rides call for when we go at the end of September. She'll be a few days shy of 4.
