Thinking of going to Florida at Christmas - flying out on Christmas day for 2 weeks.
Am tempted to leave it right up to a couple of weeks before to book.
Am I completely mad? Has anyone done this at Christmas?
Do you have to book early to even be in with a chance of getting a flight?
And do you think I would gain anything by doing this price wise?
Thank you do much for your advices :)

i thought flight prices generally go up dramatically the nearer you get to the date?

Especially when the discounted code seats sell out and only the full fair seats are left?

I might be wrong though!

I have tried to do exactly those dates, I can't fly until Xmas day working in retail. It was about 6 years ago, we spent the Xmas at home, there wasn't 1 flight available from any UK airport.
Other times of year yes you can get a baragin, Xmas there is always a chance but personally I wouldn't if I wanted to be certain of getting away.

Depends how they are selling, Scheduled tend to go up, charter come down. You can go this weekend for £168 + luggage, these past few weeks they have been as low as £153 but in school hols the last minute deals are very hard to get, usually end up paying OTT or staying at home.

Oh no! I bet you were gutted.
Hubby is a physio with British and world superbike teams so I'm trying to work around racing season and pre season testing.
Looks like we will have to make a decision soon then!

Ooo I think you should because we looked the other year at going off last minute .... it was just a month before that we looked at flying out the day before Christmas Eve but we were faced with lack of availability and/or VERY high prices.. if you could book now I would say do it and then you can really get on with the planning.

Cool job your other-half has by the way!

I'd set a price I wanted to pay and book whenever I was able to obtain that price.

I would do your ESTA in early November if that is your plan, though, and fill in the details of your accommodation immediately after booking.
