Would you stay at AKL in a standard room

Hi,

I have only stayed once onsite and that was CBR in Feb. Is it worth staying at AKL and not upgrading to lets say a Savannah room. I can get an BRP rate of $150.53w/tax a night for 10 nights for standard and $239.73 w/tax a night on savannah. Either way would save me $78.05 a night over rack rate.

If you can afford the $240 a night for the savanna view go for it. My husband and I are booked to stay in a savanna view room for our Jan 2006 trip. We also have the BRP rate of $240 inc tax. We would not book a standard view room at the AKL as we know that we would not be happy looking out at the parking lot.

We have stayed in pool view rooms at the AKL twice and enjoyed both of those stays. We have stayed in savanna view rooms three times and have enjoyed all of those stays.

If the $240 is out of the budget see how much a pool view room will cost and go for that.

I was wondering about how good the bus service was. When I was at CBR I never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes for a bus and wondered why I ever stayed offsite.

We never had to wait more than a few minutes for a bus either at the resort or at a park. Also, the buses weren't jammed with people standing either. People complain about AKL being remote and so far from the parks, but the rides to and from the parks didn't seem to take any longer than any other resort. It's also nice since there's just one stop and the buses aren't shared with any other resorts.

Yes!! We booked standard in July and were upgraded to savanna. We are currently booked for next July, in standard again. I don't care if we are not in a savanna next summer. The hotel is great and there are many great places to see the animals!
