Would you spend 1k for an extra day?

I just booked a 6 night cruise that stops in the Caymans and Cozumel. I’ve been on that itinerary multiple times. There is also a 7 night Eastern that stops in Tortola. I’ve cruises there once and LOVED it. It also stops in St. Thomas which is a new port for us. What would you do? Would you pay 1k for one extra day and a new-ish ports?

Depends on how many people. Calculate the cost/day for each cruise. For our family of 4, $1,000/day for the 4 of us is a good deal while school is out.

Yes, pay the $1k. The worst day of the cruise is the morning you have to get off, so anything you can do to put that morning off is best. Even if it's one more day.

what did you like about tortola, i also am wondering. DH and i stayed on the ship when we were there.

We did the excursion to Jost Van Dyke and it was absolutely gorgeous! We had a great time. When we went, the boat was only there until 2 so we were only able to do a 4 hour excursion. It will be there longer this time so we would get to do the full day.

What would you do with that $1000 otherwise? That's what would be the deciding factor for me I think. I do think an Eastern route is more pleasant than a Western route (even though I LOVE Mexico) so it isnt just the one day IMO its also nicer beaches on the stops. If stops are really important to you, it might also be worth looking at which stops are likely to be missed on each route. For example GC is a 50/50 odds of stopping for me. Although if a sea day make you just as happy as a port day then this matters way less.

I usually look at it as how much would I pay for a hotel night plus all my food. $1,000. is worth it to me.

Since you liked Tortola, you will also like St. Thomas beaches(they are lovely). I'd gladly pay $1000 for an extra day.
