Would you sleep in someone else's bed without changing the sheets?

We went away for the weekend while DH's bro & his girlfriend stayed in our house with the kids. The last time they did this, they slept on the 2 couches in our living room. They brought sheets & pillows. So, when we got home today I asked if they slept on the couch, expecting them to say yes. Well, she said they slept upstairs. After they left, DH said, where did they sleep? Air mattress that the brought? DD said "no, they slept in your bed". Yuck! If I had known that they were going to do that, I would have changed the sheets for them. I am totally changing the sheets right now!!!!!!!!!

It depends. one or what they did on the

No that's disgusting. The only person I would sleep on their already used sheets (maybe) is my DSS (and that's just if I HAD to for some reason) and that's just because he's my DSS. I wouldn't sleep on anyone elses already-used sheets except my own sheets or my kid.

I would attempt to locate your sheets because I am not sleeping on a couch. If I could not then yes.

No, I would not sleep on sheets slept on by anyone. When we have someone watch the kids I do make sure they have a bedroom with an actual bed and clean sheets. I feel that is only right since they are doing me a favoe.

I would have assumed that if I was at your house watching your kids for the weekend you would have changed them for me.

Why would I bring my own sheets and sleep on the couch if I was doing you a favor?

Honestly if it were someone in my family it wouldn't bother me that much to sleep in their bed on their sheets. If you shared a bed growing up you are used to sharing sheets.

No!

However, when I have people staying here, I set them up with what they need. Towels, sheets, pillows etc. No one has ever slept in our bed. They use the guest bed, the sleep sofa or I set out the AeroBed. I ask them what they prefer when making all the other arrangements for them to watch our house or talk about them visiting.

Same with going to someone elses house, I clarify if I need to bring anything like the AeroBed, pillows, extra blankets.....

This is exactly why I do not like to stay over at my mom's house. I just have this "feeling" that the sheets are not fresh. Not proof...just a feeling.

^ All of this.
I have no problem sharing a bed with my siblings or even cousins. I assume they have fresh sheets when company comes unless they are bad housekeepers.
Also, they may have slept on top of the comforter with a blanket. I did that a lot when I was young and rooming with friends.

No. Ew.
When we watch my IL's cat, she MIL will tell me she put new bedding on her bed and that the guest bed is also made up. We've only stayed once or twice (we only live 5 min away, but when it's the school year I have to go over before work/school so it could be easier... if my kids would actually SLEEP there).

And before we left, I washed all the bedding we used and left a note that I had done so.

OK, good point, I should have asked what their plans were. Last time they brought an air mattress and intended to set it up on the floor in our room (it's the attic, so it's big enough). They forgot some part of it though, and ended up on the couches. We have 2 big couches that are very wide, so one for each. I wouldn't have cared that they wanted to use our bed. I just would have changed the sheets for them if I had known. They never called to ask where the clean sheets were. I would have! The sheets were messed up, so they definitely did not sleep on top of the comforter.

If I'm staying at your house, doing you a favor, I'm sleeping in your bed, on what I would expect to be clean sheets.

The couch wouldn't even be considered.

How dirty were your sheets? If they looked clean, didn't have stains on them, I don't know if it's that big a deal. Why wouldn't you change the sheets and tell them they could sleep in your bed? I don't understand them sleeping on a couch if a bed is available.

Sorry, I was typing this, (I'm slow) and didn't see that you'd already answered my questions.

You know, I do think it is odd they did not communicate. I would atleast send a text stating we decided to skip the couch, do you have extra sheets or should I throw the ones you have on in the wash?

I agree with these posts--and I would never think to tell someone in your situation that I planned to sleep in the bed and not on a couch or floor---that would be as assumed as me sleeping at all would be :confused3

EEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! No way...unless I was so ill I had no idea WHAT I was sleeping on. No offense OP to your sheets but blechy blech blech blech...:scared: I would not assume that sheets had been cleaned for me, not would I ask for them to be cleaned. I would have expected a spare set of cleans sheets for the couch.

I would not sleep in someone else's bed without changing the sheets. When I was helping care for my dad when he was terminally ill, I would put clean sheets on the guest bed when I got there, and put clean ones on for the next person when I left. Yes, it was just my siblings sleeping there, and I shared a bed with my sister for many years, but I just didn't feel right sleeping on sheets slept on by someone else. Maybe because I worked my way through college in the hotel industry. I don't know, but I get the heebie-jeebies sleeping in previously-slept-in sheets (Unless, of course, the sleeper was me!).
