We are going to Disney in less than 2 months! I am wondering if anyone has any experience with the pack n plays and/or cribs. DD will be 18 months and does sleep occasionally in the pack n play at Grandma's house.

So, my question is, would you rent a crib or use the pack n play the hotel gives you? Did anyone have any problems with their kids sleeping in the pack n plays? Thanks!

Our last trip DS turned 2 and we just opted for the pack and play. We did not go back to the room for naps because he took them in his stroller and so we were really only in the room at bedtime. Most nights he had fallen asleep on the bus, so we just changed him and put him in the pack and play while asleep.

He is a really good sleeper and would have slept anywhere, so I never worried about it. I know of lots of other kids that would have a more difficult time sleeping in a pack and play when used to a crib, so keep that in mind.

When mine were that age I usually just slept in the bed with them. But if you want a crib I would just use the one provided. Why waste money renting something that comes with the room?

My youngest was about 14 months on our first trip. We used the pack 'n' play provided by Disney. We also traveled quite a lot with our two boys when they were in cribs (not to Disney though), and we always used the hotels' cribs or pack 'n' plays. I wouldn't rent one when because there's no need to.

It was at Disney that we discovered DS would NOT sleep in pnp, thus our constant need for a crib when we travel. If your DC is already sleeping in one, that's a plus... If you think for some reason they might not sleep through the night or nap well, I would try the full sized crib. Sleep is a good thing while on vacation!

My daughter has never had an issue sleeping in pack and plays on vacation. She sleeps in her crib at home but is fine with a pack and play while we're away - for her I think it's more important for her bedtime routine than it is where she sleeps.

If your DD occasionally sleeps in a PNP with no problems, I'd just go with that. We have 3 kids and we've always used the PNP when we travel to Disney. One of my kids even chose to sleep in the PNP when he was 23 mos. old. We were staying in a 2BR at OKW and had a bed for him, but he wanted the PNP, even though he was in a bed at home. :confused3

By the way, I have a DD named Erin...great name! :goodvibes

My dd is 18m and hates and will not sleep in a pack and play when we travel! :sad1:

We are a family of 4, so i will probably just have her in the one queen bed with me and have requested at the hotel, toddler rails for the one bed. :wizard:

I think I will go with the pack n play and if she does not do well I will bring th info with me just in case I need to call and order a crib.
Hopefully she will do well and get good sleeps in, they are SO important!

We have an 18 month old daughter and use the Pack n play for vacations - it works great for us!
As someone else mentioned, she will do naps in her stroller usually while we are out and about and then sleeps in the Pack n play overnight.

Our GrandPrincess is now 21 months old and a real pill when it comes to sleeping. When we went to WDW she was 18 MO and just slept with her mom (dad didn't go with us). We have since found a peapod plus tent for $75 at travelingwithkids.com She takes naps in it when she is at our house (even though we have a crib). We are on a trip with her right now and she has been doing great sleeping in the tent each night. I think it's about the best $75 we've ever spent!

I think it depends on the child. My 2 oldest would sleep in the pnp just fine. My now 9 month old is an entirely different story. We just got back from a long weekend at Dollywood and the hotel had a pnp for us to use. He HATED it and would not sleep in it. I'd cuddle and nurse him to sleep and then put him in it. He would wake up about 2 hours later and scream his little head off. I could not put him back in it! Fortunately our room had a king bed and a pullout that the older 2 kids were on so the baby just ended up sleeping with DH and I in the king bed.

On our last WDW trip DS was only 3 months old and still waking at least once a night to nurse so he and I had one bed, DH and our 5 year old had a bed and our 7 year old had the day bed. That way DS would just wake up and nurse---no fussing to disturb those around us. I've already said on our next trip we will shell out the extra $ for a crib rental after seeing what happened this trip.

We've used the pnp at Disney for years and had no problems. If you have room at home, you might want to consider setting up a pnp in your room for a few days or a week before your vacation and having her sleep there to get use to the pnp and sleeping in the same room. Another thing to consider would be to bring your own sheets, if you have them. They might be softer and make her feel more at home. (Just leave a note in the pnp asking housekeeping not to change the sheet)

We used the pack & play for our dd last year. She was 2 1/2 and just fit in there, but slept just fine. We gave her a pillow from the bed and brought one of her little fleece blankets from home, as well as a crib sheet.

Many days, she was so tired, she would have probably slept anywhere! This year, she'll be too big, so it will be into the big bed with mommy & daddy.

I would definitely not rent the crib.

My children only used p-n-p on vacations. Actually one time, DS was totally freaked out by the crib that was setup in out room at the YC. The next day was had a p-n-p.

It was what our children were used to.
Then again I used the p-n-p as a playpen and the kids were used to it and often napped in it.

Ditto. DS has spent a lot of time in a PnP between Disney trips, camping and at the grandparents.

Can you practice at home a couple of nights before you go?

We always used the pack n play. It was fine. We used the sheet that it had as well.....why create more hassle and expense by renting a crib?
