I had a minor skin malady years ago. I had pneumonia in 2009 and then gall baldder surgery in 2010.

In essence, I've had major amounts of both.

I'd rather have the pain. I can't stand the itch.

I'd much rather be itchy! I've had both, and have been itchy to the point of scratching myself bloody, but I'd still rather put up with that than pain.

I don't know. Last Weds. I got two shots in my left leg, one right after the other. (I was still reeling from the first when they stuck me again!) Anyway, it bruised, swelled, and still hurts. Boy, it was painful walking around Boston with that. Dx

So, now it's starting to heal, and that's making it itch like the devil! Double whammy, right there. :(

My DH & I both vote for pain.

We both got terrible cases of poison ivy last Fall and it was M-I-S-E-R-A-B-L-E!

Good question. Whatever I am at the time, I'd rather be the other.
None of the above.

i'd rather be itchy. at least that usually can be relieved fairly quickly.

pain...ugh. sometimes two different pain meds and ice doesn't even help(yes, i'm speaking from experience right about now....)

pain, I have skin issues and I itch so I have to keep my nails short because I scratch in my sleep til my arms bleed. And the sores are horrible looking. BLECH!

Itchy. I've had bouts of eczema my whole life. The itch is horrible. It phases from itchy to cracked skin, which hurts a lot, but it's such a relief from the itch.

It probably helps that I have a high pain tolerance.

I currently have poison oak all over my body, so I'm experiencing the itching right now. I'm also prone to kidney stones (at least one every other year, on average), so I know pain. I would take the itching over pain. Pain is so much worse.

:thumbsup2 I'm wondering if some of those who said they'd rather be in pain have dealt with some of the kind of pain I/we/some have.

That's what I was thinking. I have a condition that sometimes causes horrible unremitting pain for hours at a time. It makes labor pain feel like a mild toothache.

I picked pain, I guess because it's the devil I know. I'm awaiting surgery for both a torn meniscus and three severely herniated discs in my neck that have caused me to have a headache for nearly five straight years.
Maybe picking pain is easy for me since it's not an option to make it go away right now. :headache:

Pain every time. When I get a semi bad sun burn on my back I go through an uncontrollable itchy phase that drives me insane. I've even had to go to the emergency room because of it. I'll take agonizing pain over that every time.

When I had shingles about 12 years ago, that was pure torture because it was ITCHY, but if you even thought about touching it, much less scratching it, the pain brought me to tears. So that's kind of a hard call for me; I hate pain, but itchy is SO annoying!!

Yep....been there done that I would pick pain every time.

I've experienced short-term & long-term severe pain and yes, I would still take being in pain over being itchy.

Yep, I've had a badly broken shoulder that hurt more than most people could even imagine, a year after that I broke my heel (something almost impossible to do :rolleyes1), year after that had surgery on broken heel, plus I get horrible migraines...and I would still rather be in pain that have a horrible itch.

Have had both and I find pain to be more manageable. Itchiness is hit or miss. I have never had PUPPs, but last pregnnacy, my feet went on an itching frenzy. This pregnancy it as my hands. I just can't stand it. Both were resolved--but pain to me is just much easier to deal with.

My 2nd epidural, I got the itching side effect.:scared1: It was horrible.

ETA: And I have allergies, and itchiness is one of my reactions.
