Would you plan on going to Disney Springs on weekend?

For our trip next year one of my husbands wants is to spend some time in Disney Springs to hit some restaurants and shopping. I am thinking that this might be a good thing to plan for a Saturday - My thought (correct me if I am wrong) is that the parks will be busier on a weekend day vs a week day -- so why not plan Disney springs for a Saturday. We might do a RD at a park for a few hours before or hit a park late nights after hitting DS or just make it a relaxing resort day/shopping.

Is this a good plan? This will be an 8 night trip so we should have at least 8-9 park days. The plan is to take it much slower than past trips as it will be around 4th of July so crazy hot and humid.

Thoughts on this plan?

Disney Springs is a lot of fun, but keep in mind it gets more crowded the later you are there. On a Saturday night it's quite crowded, especially the restaurants/bars. DD12 and I were just there about 5 weeks ago on a Friday night. We arrived around 6:30pm and wanted to grab some food at Chicken Guy. Line was out the door and far down the walkway. We decided to skip it and head to D-Lux Burger. Same thing, but thankfully it moved quick. The shops weren't wall to wall people, but it was busy.

As pp said, DS gets more crowded later in the evening. It doesn't really matter which evening. If you want to avoid crowds, go late afternoon, shop, dine, get dessert while watching a band then head out by 9p ish.

We go to DS on the weekends whenever we are in Florida visiting family. If you go early in the day on a weekend it’s usually not crowded at all, unless maybe it’s a holiday. From late afternoon on it gets busier and busier. Lots of locals hit up DS in the evenings on the weekends.

I just go on whatever day works with the rest of my plans.

Plenty of locals will be there on a weekend so it will be more corwded on a Saturday but if a Saturday were the only day that worked for me I'd do it no problem.

Personally, our strategy is to go earlier in the day on weekends and go back for the evening during the work week, as this is a popular destination for locals on weekend evenings. We’ve found the evening crowds to be better during the week.

We are using a Saturday to avoid the parks and treat it as a rest day. Sleep in, pool time, Disney Springs... is a good way to recharge a little before going again the next day.

We normally arrive on Saturday about noon. We stop at DS for lunch and walking around for a couple of hours, then get our groceries and head to our resort.
While it can be busy, I haven't thought it was ever terribly crowded.
This would be mid October, mid April or May.
