Seems to be a lot of chatter that the purpose of the new FP+ is to find a way to monetize fast passes. So let's say you get three free in advance but have to pay for more than that. Universal you pay up to $90 per day for unlimited FP on top of your entry. Would you pay and if so what would be your price?

I think this will definitely depend on the person. I myself only use about three FP per day and I would be fine with that limit. Other people who only use FP would definitely want more. Disney will most likely do something like this for more revenue and things like that but with everything disney does we will just have to wait and see.

I voted "no". We average a few FPs per day. There are so many attractions in each park that if the line is long at one, we just go do something else. I would rather spend the money on food or souvenirs. :goodvibes

No pay their is always some place else to go. We stayed away for 16 years. More than a mouse out there!!! Standing in Epcot 6-19

Universal hotel guests are allowed unlimited use of the Express Pass entrances. Guests who purchase Express Pass can only use it once per attraction, not unlimited.

I wouldn't pay.

edited to add People responding to your poll have been to Disney multiple times. You might get a different answer if you polled people who were planning a once in a lifetime Disney trip and only have a day to spend in the MK.

A different poll, I won't start it anyone else can go for it, Would you consider upgrading your resort category if one of the perks was additional FP +

This.

I personally believe disney will do a tiered approach as to the number of fast passes per day based on the resort, will there be a pay per fast pass year? Yeah probably, but those will probably be for the people not staying on property.

A tiered approach to fast passes will not determine which resort we stay in.

I tend to be of a mind that it's meant to MODERNIZE, not MONETIZE. That said, I have never paid for the feature elsewhere, and would never pay for it at Disney. I'm already on board with the conveniences and benefits associated with staying on site. That should be good enough.

That would also be a"no" for me. No way would I pay hundreds more for a vacation just to get on a few rides faster. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the qualifier re universal. I wonder what percentage of Disney income comes from repeat versus once in a lifetime trips.

Also upgrading from mod to deluxe would not be an option for us and I think it works out to about the same per person as the $50 per day in the above poll.

deal with seasonal and annual and premium annual passholders? Apportion their fast passes out by cost of ticket?

I think the system now is working fine. The most popular rides will always 'fast pass' out early. TSM usually is closed out before 11:00 a.m. and Soarin, test track the same.

Personally I'm getting tired of those that have money being able to push to the front of lines....maybe they should get rid of them altogether and go back to simply waiting in line?

I don't think the current system is going to stay. I'm not saying they will charge, just would you pay. I would not. The resorts at Universal that offer unlimited fast pass as a perk are about the same price as moderate resorts at Disney. But I'm not sure I'd stay at the Universal resort just for the perk when I could save so much staying off.

I realize my hubby and I are not the typical guest to WDW...we go every 5 years, but we do the platinum plan and celebrate milestone anniversaries. If they did give more fast passes I would hope it would be for the premium and platinum plans. This way it would not impact that many people negatively but would make those pricy plans look more appealing.

Thoughts? Maybe I like that idea cause it helps me justify the cost to my hubby...:confused3

It really depends on the trip, if I'm going for 3 weeks and have a 10 day pass so I can pretty much see anything I want to anyways no. But if I'm squeezing in an extra 4 day trip and want to do as much as possible... well probobly.

We just got back from a 5 day visit. We are one of the DVC member, go at least once or twice a year, have an annual pass type of visitors. We actually only got fast passes about four times during our entire trip. Once we got passes that we knew we couldn't use, because they were for TSM, and they were for the hour right before closing, and we had dinner plans elsewhere.

So, I would definitely not pay extra for more fast passes, unless you could really choose the time of the fast passes. But, I am OK with not going on TSM on any given trip (or Space Mountain, Soaring, test tract, etc), when I am there at 10 am, and the fast pass is for between 9pm and 10pm, because I already have another trip planed in December, and we are going to go next June, before these annual passes expire.

I would only pay extra for a fast pass that didn't have a time constraint on it.

I'm pretty sure we did something like this last year at Sea World and Busch Gardens (Tampa) during Spring Break. The year before we went to BG Williamsburg and my dd and dh spent more time in line for rides and he said never again. These weren't scheduled times like FP though, you just pay X amount and get front line access to certain rides.
We feel our kids are too old now to pull out of school so unfortunately we have to go during peak times. If paying extra saves us hours and hours in line over the course of a week, yes we would definitely do it (if it wasn't a scheduled time).

With fast pass+ your supposed to be able to pick your times ahead of time I believe. They really haven't come out with a strong statement with the facts and how everything will work with FP+ right now I think they're more worried about rolling out the wrist bands. I would definitely consider paying extra for fast passes without a time constraint. If the price wasn't to bad and I could go whenever with the fast pass I have that would be great so I definitely agree with you there.

Would your answer be different if Disney issued/sold a lot of FPs. So many that the typical standby wait for a "E Ticket"; ride is 60-90 minutes?

Using your numbers a family of 4 would be spending $200 for paid express passes. Staying at a Universal hotel is a much better value.

I don't know what will come of this but I'm betting it will be far beyond what we're thinking mostly based on the cost of the project. I'm convinced Disney is anticipating a huge pay back.

I'll bet we see an end to FP as we know it, meaning the 'for sale' FP will become more premium to many, especially attractive to those with money. Note: kind of sad for those idealists around here but pretty indicative of the world we live in.

I agree that a tiered or layered plan will be offered (probably many layers) with very high priced packages for the 4Seasons/Grand Floridian crowd winding down to basic pay individual FP's. Other pay for options will probably include the time select option or even no time frame whereas the cheaper form would definitely have limits.

I believe a huge emphasis with this will (once again) be keeping guests captive, so (1) the appearance of something too good to be true or (2) the penalty we pay for not going along will be prohibitively high. I think this will be Disney's attempt to handcuff Universal and Sea World, both of who have been far more innovative than Disney of late.

Whether I or anyone will pay for this of course will depend on the options we're discussing. But I believe that eventually it will be something most people consider on some level. I mean to say it will come to pass whether we like it or not and the look of theme park travel could be very different in 20 years.

I fear for the future of the Florida annual passes. There isn't much down time void for us to fill anymore and our profitability is obviously much less than the week long families. Plus DL has seemingly already fired a shot over their Resident AP holders bow...

Possibly. We paid $20 per person per day for Dollywood's version of fastpass. It was well worth it, BUT there was no free version and it was a one day trip. This summer I plan on paying for front of line for my husband and son at Cedarpoint (thankfully they're the only thrillseekers in our family as I couldn't afford it for all of us!) With WDW though we'll still have at least some free fastpasses with the new system, and we generally have more days to fit everything in. Another thing to consider for my family personally is that with my kids getting older, there are more rides we are willing to cut off our "to do" list which makes the parks more manageable.

I do not think I would be interested in paying for extra fast passes. We pay enough for stuff when we go to WDW. We always stay at resort , moderate or deluxe, get MYW with Ph and FUN . Also get the dining plan. That is enough to spend. If they start selling FPs the only people getting them will be the rich. They will want a pretty price for them I bet.
