Would you move for an extra night?

  • Heck no- total headache

  • Heck yeah- it's Disneyland during the holidays

I personally like the GC for Christmas time (old fashioned Christmas with Santa in the lobby)--but you get a big bang for your buck at Paradise Pier--which is hard to pass up. It is worth it to pay for the theme park view at the Paradise Pier!

And anyone can enjoy the lobby *not just guests of the Grand* we'll definitely stop by for a look, we'll walk through DTD to get to our hotel this Thanksgiving for the 1st time *other than staying at a Disney hotel* ~ we're at Stovall's for our upcoming visit, should be interesting, we've never not stayed on Harbor or a Disney hotel.

I voted yes, and I would choose the DLH. My bf and I stayed there on our very first vacation together back in 2009, so I am a bit biased, but we really enjoyed it then. I'm sure it's even better now with all of the renovations!

Out of the 20 people who voted, I can't believe no one thinks it's a headache to move. I need DH to read this.

I think because it's the last day, during a visit where crowds will decline and late opening hours, it shouldn't be hard to move in the morning. You can frontload the trip with rides and shows ending on a relaxing note.

Yep, and you should move to the DLH which is where we most likely will be staying. :thumbsup2

Heck ya! We've stayed at all 3 Disney hotels but never for the entire visit - max 2 nights *DD's 7th B-day trip at the DLH last year - 2 nights, then somewhere much cheaper for the last 2 nights. Your kids aren't super little, you can handle it.

Very true, they can handle the move and being *homeless* for a few hours won't kill anyone.

Flying with two extra days is much better than driving with only one day... :teeth:

With the PIN? To me the price for the standard room at GCH seems good - but maybe that's just me. especially since for my dates the price for the standard room is 525.00

I'm waiting to see which one you pick! popcorn::

Oh, and BTW - Love your user name! I cracked up when I read it :lmao:

Thanks! ;) I guess DVC has spoiled me and I forgot how $$$ rooms are. The concierge PPH seems like the best deal.

I voted yes!

I also voted for the DLH just because I would like to see the new rooms. I'd want to stay there just for the new headboard alone!

I realize the PPH rooms are bigger and you have 5 people but I'd want the newer room.

The new headboards look super cool the DLH! :woohoo: I love that stuff.

Oh for sure! I love that about the Disney Resorts! :thumbsup2

Like that idea........The GCV will transfer our bags to either hotel so I'm not worried about that. We could run pver and check in during our midday break. And it gives me an extra night for shows.

:woohoo: That alone, is reason enough!!! :teeth: :goodvibes

We're switched our last night frm PPH Club level to HoJo, just because they had the ENT rate and who am I to turn down $250 in savings? Do it! Do it! Do it!

:hyper: The peer pressure is getting to me. :rotfl2: I am on the wait list for the GCV but think I might try the PPH concierge for $245 a night. That doesn't seem outrageous to me. Or maybe I am now desensitized to Disney prices. But the headboards at the DLH light up. :cloud9:

That sounds great!

They light up and play music! :cool1:

Waiting popcorn::

They sure are ~ DD and I were spoiled when we stayed there for her B-day *we checked in late* I had requested the *what was Dreams/now Adventure tower - always have *and so far we've been 3 for 3* we got Club Level *had only paid for a standard room :woohoo: our room had already been remodeled, we had a King bed and a high floor/DTD view - it was awesome :cool1:

Do you have any photos?

...Just thought I'd pop in for a hot minute and find out the latest. Which way are we leaning now? Have you crossed over to the dark side and decided to grab that extra night, switching to the DLH or the PPH (both of which have nice, nifty new rooms)? Or is the possibility of DH complaining still too ominous to ignore? (I can understand that, too - being with someone at DLR who is unhappy and grumbling about something can really put a damper on any fun you could have in that extra day/night.)

I vote yes to DLH, and you can try the new Trader Sam's :cool1: Have fun! Tell DH that with the move from GCV to DLH, you get a fresh clean room and a great new pool :) Buy him a cocktail at Trader Sam's.

I voted to stay the extra day and I think you should move to DLH. We'll be at the Grand and moving to DLH on the 1st too. You say the GCV will move your bags over for you. Is that because you're in the villas and DVC? Will they do that for us mere mortals?

 I think I've done my sweet man an injustice. He's a great guy, really, and is never grumpy or dopey while there. He's actually a nutty park commando. It just takes him a little lot longer to warm up to more Disney.

Trader Sam's. :thumbsup2 Cocktail, good! Do they sell the light up glow cubes at Disneyland?

 I think they will. I've never asked otherwise. I believe they did for us in WDW too. They won't be in your room though; you'll have to call down and wait for delivery.

Of course! They're not accessible to me now *at work* I'll work on that much later, I'm here till 3pm :scared1: Yay - it's Friday :dance3:

popcorn::

So what did you pick? :goodvibes

Inquiring minds want to know popcorn::

Yup we are doing the same thing! We booked a week at GCV and added on the night before at DLH using points. We wanted to stay there and see what they have done so far on the remodel :)

This may sound silly, but I was almost hoping that we'd be short a day or two at the beginning or end of our VGC stay because I'm dying to stay at the renovated DLH rooms.

I'd love to see the remodel too. Please post pics after.

I totally get it. :thumbsup2

My flights dropped dramatically today, $750 for the 5 of into Long Beach :cloud9: so I booked without the extra day. :faint: I know, I know, I need to turn in my DIS membership.

After being a freak and losing sleep over something so ridiculous ;) I decided it was time to book and move on.

Three days will have to suffice. :goodvibes
