Just curious if you think the headache factor is worth moving for one night....

DH agreed to the 4th night however and of course our villa size is not available for that night. Both the DLH and PPH do have rooms and we could use our DVC points. Subsequently I received a 30% off PIN code today too so cash could be the way to go.....anyway....

Would you move for a night to have an extra day? Currently we have 3 nights at the GCV with 3 full park days.

If you chose yes, would you choose the DLH or PPH?

:thanks: Interested in all insights and opinions.

So a night before the GCH?

What period are you visiting? I need a reminder.

I voted yes. I would go for the DLH.I voted for it because I am biased it is my favorite of the 3 Disney hotels. It is the one that feels the most Disney to me.

When we are travelling and staying for one night in a hotel, I pack a separate suitcase with Pj's and clothes for everyone for the next day in one suitcase. Then we just have our toiletry bag and one suitcase to carry into the hotel. If you have a vehicle that might be an option for you.

A night after the GCV. We'll be at the Grand from Nov 27-30.

Oh yeah...in a heartbeat:love:

:thumbsup2 That's where I am headed.

I do love the DLH and haven't stayed there since 2004. :scared1:

That's a really really good idea!!

Yes, I would..you are there anyways..:goodvibes

Good point!

I'm so torn. Last time we moved from the GCV to the PPH for a night and we were so disappointed. That was June 2010 before the renovations. The photos now look great. The ac was so loud and the towels were paper thin. We stayed at the PPH in like 2006 and loved it.

Hmm.....and with the PIN if we went cash, we could move from our villa to a standard room at the GCH but not sure how that would go over?

I have to decide soon. :hyper: I'm getting ready to book flights. Argh!!! If I use points for the DLH or PPH and cancel, I believe my points go into a holding that have to be used quickly. Maybe cash is the way to go because then I can cancel? :confused3

I'm going to call now and see what the PIN rates are.

I would waitlist the night and do a cash reservation as a backup. If you reserve with points at PP or DLH, you cannot use those points for VGC if it comes open, they could only be used outside DVC. There is no holding acct for the Disney Collection.

I'd do the DLH, maybe you will make use of the new pool and at least enjoy the new rooms.

My votes? Since you already have tried going from GCV to PPH and didn't like it, try to get GCV on a cash only ressie that way you can save points and have flexibility. :goodvibes

Thank you! I'm on hold right now with Disney.

I forgot about the new pool. :thumbsup2 My crazy kids will swim too in December in So Cal. And the new Hawaiian themed counter service too. I spaced the name.

::yes:: I think that's the way I'm heading.

I checked and DH doesn't have to be back to work until Dec 3rd which means we could add on 2 nights......he'd prefer to be home Dec 1, which I totally understand, but he could swing coming home the 2nd.....still have to decide if we are driving or flying.

Wonder if it's after hours as I have been on hold a looooong time? At least the music is good.

He quoted concierge first. :rotfl2: With the PIN:

PPH is $245 standard concierge, $175 standard room
GCH is $511 concierge premium, $469 standard concierge, $266 standard room
DLH is $$396 concierge premium, $378 standard concierge, $221 standard room

That doesn't seem like a great deal :upsidedow

Well, hmmm.... I'm just not sure about this...

An extra day/night...during the magical holiday season, in which there are so many things to do and see...parades and fireworks...snow and Reindeer...treats and trinkets....festive hotels...carolers and decorations and characters in Winter sweaters...other DIS'ers at DLR at the same time you will be there...

Hmmm, this is a tough one. I'm just not sure what I would do in your shoes.:confused3

Still thinking...

Still pondering...

Still debating....

OF COURSE YOU SHOULD ADD AN EXTRA NIGHT FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON!!!!!

Have I not taught you anything?:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Have I not sufficiently convinced you yet that you need an extra night for the season?:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yes Yes Yes! By all means, Yes! If DH agreed to another night, take it!!

:lmao: Sherry, you crack me up! When I started the thread, I thought to myself: Sherry is going to think I'm bananas- I know her answer! :thumbsup2 So funny! You have taught this grasshopper well. :teacher: I do want the extra night, I do I do I do! But I don't want DH to complain! ;) He generally has an amazing time once we are there.....

Hmmm.....

Out of the 20 people who voted, I can't believe no one thinks it's a headache to move. I need DH to read this.

Heck ya! We've stayed at all 3 Disney hotels but never for the entire visit - max 2 nights *DD's 7th B-day trip at the DLH last year - 2 nights, then somewhere much cheaper for the last 2 nights. Your kids aren't super little, you can handle it.

Flying with two extra days is much better than driving with only one day... :teeth:

With the PIN? To me the price for the standard room at GCH seems good - but maybe that's just me. especially since for my dates the price for the standard room is 525.00

I'm waiting to see which one you pick! popcorn::

Oh, and BTW - Love your user name! I cracked up when I read it :lmao:

I voted yes!

I also voted for the DLH just because I would like to see the new rooms. I'd want to stay there just for the new headboard alone!

I realize the PPH rooms are bigger and you have 5 people but I'd want the newer room.

I said no, just because I hate changing hotels that much--but it looks like I am the only one! HA!

The only issue I would have is the Disneyland Hotel--because of the pool construction. We have stayed there 3 times since they started renovating the hotel, and by far the worst stay was the last with the pool construction. We always pay for a "premium" view--which normally brings either an upper tower pool or resort view. We ask for the resort (DL) view every time (via requests prior to reservation) and we typically don't get it. They always seem to give us the pool view--which is fine except when you are immersed in construction. It is a pretty big let down for the amount of money you are paying. The rooms are great, though.

I personally like the GC for Christmas time (old fashioned Christmas with Santa in the lobby)--but you get a big bang for your buck at Paradise Pier--which is hard to pass up. It is worth it to pay for the theme park view at the Paradise Pier!
