This letter came home from my son's kindergarten class yesterday:

"The sister of a student in Miss ******** kindergarten class was recently diagnosed with a serious illness. The little girl is currently at Children's Hospital in Boston receiving treatment. The family has a long hard battle ahead of them.

We would like to let them know that they are in our hearts and prayers by sending them a gift basket.

If you would like to contribute, we are looking for gift certificates (McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, Au Bon Pain, Bertucci's) so they can get something to eat, games or books for her older brother to keep him entertained, magazines or Blockbuster gift cards to pass the time - all ideas are welcome.

Having a family member who is ill is a very difficult experience for every member in the family. Please help us show our support by contributing. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

Sorry -- I'll say a prayer for the family. DD lost a friend at the age of 8 to cancer and I currently have a student at my school who is gravely ill with a brain tumor. It's so hard to see kids suffer.
