Would you go to Disney while pregnant if you had a choice?

Our trip is planned for October 2007. Our DD will be turning 4 on that trip.

DH and I are thinking about the next baby. I don't want to be pregnant at Disney (I want to go on the "pregnant women should not ride" rides  ) but I'm also feeling the pressure of DD getting older. Not to mention that I'd prefer a spring baby because I live in Louisiana where it's wicked humid during the summer. Putting off baby #2 until we get back from Disney puts me delivering at the end of July/bigging of August - the least desirable time of year. If it weren't for our Disney trip we'd probably try next summer for a baby, giving us a March/April baby. Much nicer. :teeth:

So, give me some advice. Go to Disney pregnant or not?

I would not. I did go for a quick weekend - I lived a couple hours away - when I found out I was preg. with my first, but I was only 6 weeks along and (no flames please) rode all the rides anyway. I get tired enough at Disney and I would not want to do it while pregnant.

I went when I was about 6 weeks from my due date with my first...it wasn't bad...we were there in February so the weather wasn't too hot to make that part bad...but walking around there did get tiring...personally I wouldn't do it again only because you can't go on all of the rides...but then with a four year old you can't go on all of the rides anyways.

I went when I was pregnant with my third. I was due in November and we took the trip in August. I don't know that I would have purposely planned this, but DH was sent to disney with his work and we decided to tag along. DH flew (company paid for his airfare), and my parents drove me and the other two kids down from NJ. The drive down wasn't too bad, but 16 days later driving home wasn't great. I was definitely starting to feel the third trimester yuckies by then.

Anyway, as far as the trip goes, we had a great time and I managed to do all the walking without a problem (some minor swelling due to heat and standing too much but nothing major). We do 2 long park days in a row but then try to take it easy on the next day.

Disney is definitely do-able while pg, but I would try to plan to go during your second trimester when you have the energy to handle it.

DH and I plan to trade off so we can still go on the "fast" rides, even if we're doing them alone. Mission: Space wasn't open yet when we went on our honeymoon (April 2002) but it was almost done and I was bummed that I missed it! I don't want to miss it again!

I've gone to Disney while 2 mos pregnant with my second child. I also went when 4 mos pregnant and at 8 mos pregnant with my third. I went on all the "don't do" rides that I wanted to. I had no problems, other than being tired. And that last trip was no relaxing vacation. It was myself, DD 3 1/2, DD 2, my sister and her DD 8, DD 4 1/2, and DD 5mo. I'd do it again in a minute. We love Disney!

I went to WDW at 30 weeks with our 2nd child. I was fine. Personally, I would not delay a pregnancy for a trip to WDW, it can sometimes take a long time to get pregnant. I would put off a trip if necessary or just avoid those rides - they will, most likely, still be there after the baby is born.

We were trying for #3 2 years ago, I told DH that I hoped I wasn't preg. before we went because I get bad morning sickness and we were staying at the Poly and I wanted one of those drinks in the pineapple :teeth: . We did nothing to prevent preg. I wasn't pregnant when we left...but... we did come home with a little souvenir. No morning sickness, got my pineapple drink and a baby princess: .

Went once during each trimester when I was pregnant. Would I do it again?no way...I kept thinking, "It will be more fun/better next time."

I think in our case we're not Disney-every-year people so it'll probably be five years or more before we go back. So while it's not a once in a lifetime trip, it's a rarity, and I guess I don't know if I could really enjoy it while pregnant. I definitely do not want to go if I'm under 20 weeks along because it took that long to get over the horrible morning sickness I had with DD.

I would not. That being said, I'm 17 weeks pregnant with our second child and I'm planning a trip to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in December. I will be about 25 weeks pregnant and I intend on being pushed in a wheelchair. :thumbsup2 However, I live only 2.5 hours away from Disney and we go often. I would never plan a big vacation to Disney while I'm pregnant though. It is just not fun for me.

What you have to ask yourself would be:

Am I ok with not doing the rides?
Is the walking going to really bother me?
If my next pregnancy was anything like the first, I would or would not do Disney.

I know pregnancies can be different, but this is not always the case. DId you have morning sickness, all day sickness and if so would you really want to be in Disney?

If I was pregnant, I would go but make it a short trip maybe 4 days tops. One day your DH can take your DD for a few hours to the pool or an am trip the the park while you rest like on your third day. Just a few hours with your feet up could make the difference.

Don't put off being pregnant because it could take a while. Disney will still be there after baby #2. :thumbsup2

You know your body and wha you can take. I went preg the first time at 4 moths. And then again the second time at 5 months with a 2 1/2 yr old. I was a little more tired than normal but I made sure I drank lots of fluids ate healthy and had a GREAT trip!!! I went on almost all rides. No spinning, roller coasters or ToT. But everything else definitely.

I would not go pregnant because I love the rides. Then again if I had the chance to go to disney and I was pregnant I would go.

Morning sickness was all day, every day until 20 weeks. Vomiting multiple times a day (sorry if TMI!). So no, I would definitely not want to spend money on a vacation I couldn't enjoy. And seeing as it would be 5+ years before we'd be doing it again, I'd want to be able to ride whatever rides I wanted. If we'd be going back the next year it would be different.

I have no problems asking for a wheelchair, though. When I was pregnant with DD, I made my husband push me around Home Depo in a wheelchair (32-ish weeks pregnant) because I just couldn't handle being in there as long as he wanted to be there. :teeth:

(I'm the OP. I changed my username.)

We went when I was 11 weeks pregnant and I was a mess. There is a comic called John Pinette and he called Epcot the Epcot Death march. And I felt that way. Dh and I went all through future world and half way through world showcase when I became exhausted. I just wanted to go to sleep. However we had to get back to the gates.. Oh and we were staying at Pop so we had the farthest walk possible to the bus stop. I was dry heaving to smells that were everywhere. My most favorite thing at WDW is the Mickey Premieum Ice Cream bar.. it turned my stomach. :guilty:
We had been trying to get pregnant for almost 2 years. And actual stopped trying because we were going to Disneyworld in the upcoming Feb and I wanted to be able to go on rides. Well I found out Newyears day that I was pregnant. Im glad we went but if I was to do it again I would wait to go to Disneyworld in my second trimester where I felt great.

If you do go and you are pregnant, make sure to get lots of rest and drink lots of water. There are lots of little places that we found because we were not going on the big rides that were great. Like in MK in Exposition Hall there is cartoons shown and cool photo op places that make it look like you in Steamboat Willie or 101 Dalmations.

Have fun

We're going in December and getting our seasonal passes.

I take it easy at WDW when preggers--warmer months are the toughest.

I would do this as a last hurrah while your oldest is still an only. :)

We did Fort Wilderness with our oldest on her b-day as a last hurrah. No parks as it was July and hot hot hot...but still fun to do a last hurrah. Our passes also were not good at that time. We went back in August (probably just for the day--don't recall) and it was manageable.

I'd rather do Disney pregnant than be big and pregnant in the summer (we planned this one just right. :)).

Go Pregnant! I was considered waiting to get pregnant until after Disney but I went pregnant. It was still so much fun. There are only about ten rides total you can't go on. There's plenty to do. Sometimes I look at my DS and I am sad because I almost didn't have him because of a Disney vacation. Life's too short!

I have now done Disney with 2 different pregnancies. Once in Dec '04 at 20 weeks, this trip was not bad. It was actually on the chilly side so no heat and humidity. I rode plenty of rides and didn't feel I missed anything. I rode Splash and the Safari ride with the consent of physician. When we returned this past July I was 18 wks. pregnant. The heat was tough and I got tired very quickly but still had a great time. I skipped all rides that had warnings this pregnancy because I have had multiple complications this go around. I drank enough water to sink a large vessel. I still had a great time.

If you go during cooler months and your husband is okay with your pregnancy pace then go and enjoy.

Yes I would go and have twice. Once when I knew I was pg and once when I didn't. The time I went when I knew I was pg I did not ride anthing I thought would have a chance of hurting the baby. The second time I didn't know and only went on BTRR because I wasn't feeling all that well, I ended up losing that baby. However, doctor said it had no connection.

We are in a similar situation and we have decided to go. Like others, I would say it depends on how your first pregnancy went. We plan on going when I am 20 weeks along, assuming I get pregnant in December. This way I will be well past the first trimester and feeling fine. I remember with DS, who will be 2 and 10 months for the trip, I felt totally fine at this time. The plan is to go in late April/early May so that it won't be so terribly hot or crowded. We like to stroll and sit and, except for Mission to Mars, I don't like the not-if-pregnant rides anyway.

Like you, it would be another 4 years or so before we go back, and I can't wait that long! That would make it 6 years between trips - not acceptable!! As for waiting to have the baby, I'm feeling my age (36) and my husband's age (46) and simply should not wait. Don't put adding to your family on hold for Disney.
