Would you go during the holidays?

I've booked a trip for December 28-January 2. Our son starts school in August, so this is our first trip during peak season. I know it will be busy, but are people miserable? I like that it won't be hot, and that everything will decorated for Christmas.

What are your thoughts on being there at this time of year?

We went December 26-January 3 this year. We had a wonderful time, didn't wait in long lines, did tons of attractions, enjoyed the weather, loved all the decorations, and would not hesitate to do it again.:thumbsup2

I believe we were successful because we had a plan. We knew where we were going to be each day, got there close to rope drop time, took breaks in the afternoon when things were at their craziest and went back in the evening to enjoy the fireworks and other shows.

I used Tour Guide Mike for planning and it worked wonderfully.

I think I could quote Allison's post word for word for our trip this past Christmas week. Except for the dates, we were only there from the 25th to the 28th. But like Allison, we were there at rope drop or in the case of MK, 7am EMH (ugghh). But didn't really have a problem with the lines. It did get really crowded around lunch time, but we were either out of the park or on our way out.

So, would I do it again? Well, I wouldn't be afraid to. It is definitely doable. Another good thing is, once you do that week, every other week throughout the year becomes a cake walk. ;)

I have been a few times at Christmas. I love Disney decoration at the holidays it really make the crowds worth it. Plus the New Year's eve fireworks are unbelievable. The only thing to take into consider is that the parks might "close" these days because they get full. So you want to plan early arrivals. And then if you want to relax for a break just find a nice spot out of the way. Keep in mind weather can be fickle. I have worn shorts on NYE at Disney and work every article of clothing I owned. It will be busy so just plan as best you can - particularily make you food ressies early.

was there for the holiday week this year. Crowded, but not overwhelming. All problems were the crowds outside the parks.

I agree with needing a plan and subscribing to Tour Guide Mike. With a plan and Mike, you're good.

It's not so bad - we've visited WDW twice at that time of year! ;)

And for the record, I would do it again! :upsidedow Yes, it's busy, but the parks and resorts are so beautifully decorated, it makes it all worthwhile! :goodvibes

Great time to go.

Went twice and would do it again in a heartbeat.

With a plan, of course.

IMO the decorations and the atmosphere that time of year more than make up for the crowds.

Nope. Never again. Which is sad because I get two weeks off at Christmas and wouldn't have to use vacation time.

I just cannot stand to have that many people around me--and I hate not just waiting in long lines for rides but for food, bathrooms, and transportation.
