Would you go During Spring Break even though you know it will be PACKED?

We went during spring break in 2007. Was it crowded, yes. Did we have a great time, yes......we used the fast pass system and got on most of what we wanted to do.

We then went in August of 2008...and found that the crowds were worst than at spring break.

I say, if you have the chance to go, then go. Just be aware that it will be busy and plan your day accordingly....and have a great time.

One thing that should be mentioned is park hours are really extended during Spring Break. The Magic Kingdom is sometimes open until 3:00AM. If you affectively use the extended hours you can really avoid a lot of the higher crowd levels.

We are going in March during college spring break for my nephews. Crowd levels for those days are either 9 or 10. I know it will be crazy busy. We always go with them during spring break though and they don't seem to mind. We will be there at rope drop and park hop if it seems too crazy at any one park.

This particular group has only been at Disney during the busy times so it seems normal for them! Two years ago we went over Easter and the year before was between Christmas and New Years. :thumbsup2

I went in 1985 when there was only two parks with my parents. We had an amazing time. I would absolutley go and realize it's going to be a slower pace. Who wouldn't just be excited to enjoy the spring sun and excitement at the resorts. In '85 I was at a La Quinta with a great pool.

Nope.

I can't stand it when there are all those people around. You can't walk along looking at stuff because there are too many bodies in the way. All the lines are long...not just rides, but bathrooms, water, etc.

I don't go to the mall on the Saturday before Christmas. I don't go to anything when it is Grand Opening. And I don't go to Disney at holiday time.

We went last year during spring break, 3rd week in March. Did a cruise then Thurs-Sun at the parks. It was more crowded than I had seen it on our other trips. More crowded then our July 4th trip.

It would honestly have to be the only time of the year I could go before I would go back that week. It was so crowded by 10:30 every day. The weather wasn't that great either. Cold and rainy that week, except for one day that was beautiful.

I will stick with late May/Early June. Lucky for us school gets out in May so we can take advantage of slightly lower early summer crowds.

I've been as a kid, and it was fine. But now I probably wouldn't, just because I like a bit of breathing space. That, and I just don't like lines.

We've been twice during spring break. I should add it was the week before Easter in 2009 the last time.

My husband said we will never be going at that time again. The crowds were too much for him and the kids. He said he'd much rather take the heat in June.

Since you will have your mother, 2 boys and no one else to help, I would not do it.

I would, and I am! I'm going the week before Easter:scared1:

I know....CRAZY, right?

But, we go every year at this time of year and have it down to a science. We never visit the park that is offering extra magic hours, we get there at opening, follow the fastpass like it is a religion and make all our ADRs 180 days out. We also factor in a couple of rest days to hang by the pool.

You really can't beat the weather that time of year either. For us, it is worth it.

43 days....but who's counting;)

We have done a couple Spring Break trips.

The crowd calenders were rating the parks at 9 and 10.

Honestly the worst part of the trip was the drive to and from WDW on I95. Should take us about 10 hours but it took over 12 and it was speed up, slam on brakes, speed up, slam on brakes bumper to bumper, white knuckle driving.

We get up early to hit the parks and to go which ever park has morning EMH. During Spring Break some of the parks were opening at 0700. And we were there at rope drop.

We would get to the parks early, then get out around lunch time when the crowds got crazy. We would eat lunch and go to the pool for the afternoon. Tis better to eat at the resort for lunch to avoid the crowds but if you are at RD at 0700 you will likely be eating at 1100 in the parks which means you miss the lunch crowd.

We do not stay all day in the parks. If you do then the Spring Break crowds could be a problem. Honestly we were able to work around the crowds. We noticed them compared to our October trips but it was doable.

On one of the trips we happened to be at WDW at the same times as the DW's cousin's family. They had a horrible time because they could not use EMH since they were staying offsite and they did not know how to avoid the crowds. They got to the parks around 1000 which is what many people do, so they spent quite a bit of time waiting in line. When they were walking down Main Street at 1000 we had been at MK for three hours and were at the back of the park thinking about going back to the resort for a break and swim.

Spring Break is very doable if you do a bit of planning. We prefer NOT to go during busy times but you gots to do what you gots to do. :lmao:

Later,
Dan

I'm pretty confident that we could go during any time of the year and have a good time. We were there during Christmas and had a great time.

We will be there during spring break (4/16-22) and plan on the crowds. We have a lot of resort time built into our plans, plus one morning/afternoon at a water park. Just planning on going with the flow. Mostly looking forward to the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot.

While I usually NEVER turn down a chance to go to WDW, 3 years ago we went during Easter week. We spent 45 minutes in line at PECOS BILL'S just to order a hot dog. Honestly, it wasn't enjoyable. I too have an autistic son, an anti-Disney DH and travel with my mom. I try to keep our Diz experiences as positive as possible and leave everyone wanting more. :thumbsup2 Book something during summer vacation!!
