Would you drive???

I want to surprise my DM and my DD's with a small trip from Dec12th-16th. I am really looking for the cheapest but worth it way to go. To drive it would cost me $250.00 in gas RT and it is about 2050 miles RT, to fly it would cost us $800.00, but we would get there in two hours. WWYD??? We would have the weekend before to srive, and the weekend after to drive back...we would be going from monday-friday, so we could either stay until Saturday in a room only at WDW an then leave or leave Friday after the parks and get a hotel halfway through??? What do you think????

Personally, I'd find a way to fly there. You're looking at 15+ hours in a car, each way. I've done the drive from Northern Ohio and it's just draining. When I got there I didn't want to do anything but lay down and sleep (and on my stomach because my rear end was sore from sitting in the car that long!). Then, as much as you want to be enjoying yourself, there's going to be the thought that after your time at Disney you're just going to have to get back into the car and drive back. Ugh... To me, that's no way to end a vacation...

For us the drive down would ruin the vacation.....

Have you checked into air from SWA......

I have seen dings as low as $43 each way from PHL...Which should only be about $416 for the 4 of you or worst case book the $69 internet rate and it would be almost $200 cheaper than your air rate.....If there's another ding or the internet rate goes down they will credit you the difference.....

some of us have gotten really good rental prices for mid-size SUV's for that week....(look for that thread)

SWA does not have $69 internet specials anymore, they went up $10.00 each. They are now $79.00 which would be $707.60 total. You don't think it would be worth it to save that extra $500 to spend in the parks. Like I said we would have the whole weekend to drive down so we are not tired and the whole weekend back to drive home. Maybe I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good ding. Just got DH a OW flight for $38.00 $46 with taxes on Oct 27th.

sorry it went up...you might try BWI too since they have twice as many SWA flights at PHL.....

I do know that last year we booked at $79 (from BWI) and two weeks before our trip the rates went down to $39.....

As for the $500 it's not really all money to spend for us because we drive alot at home as it is and an extra 2,000 miles on the car is a killer...
