Would you do this - why or why not?

We are considering going to Typhoon Lagoon the morning we go home. We would have the car packed and go directly from TL to the airport in the afternoon. We'd have to be checked out of our resort so going back there to clean up isn't an option. Would we be able to dry our hair and change clothes at TL and get comfortable enough so we wouldn't be wet and cold for our flight?

If we don't do this we can go to TL another day but it would mean a late night followed by a very early morning (since our sons are doing the surfing class and we have to be at TL at 5:45 AM!) I was trying to come up with another option that would work and this is it!

Appreciate opinions! Thanks!

We did something similar to this back in 2001 (minus the surfing school). We had transport from the airport through mears so we didn't have a car, so we left our luggage at the resort luggage service, took the bus to TL and spent a wonderful day in the sun. Then once we changed back into dry clothes and freshened up, boarded the bus back to the resort and then caught our bus to the airport. All in all we thought it was a wonderful way to end the day before we went back to the clouds in Seattle. We also found the benefit of all the sun and water knocked the kids out on the long flight back :teeth: Right after take off they were lights out till we got over the rockies and hit some turbulence. I say go for it!

There are showers in the changing areas in the water parks. I know that there are dryers like the ones you see in a bathroom to dry your hands but at a level that it can be used as a hair dryer. You should be very comfortable for a ride home.

One year, my dad was sent to Atlanta for six weeks on business. My mom and I went out to visit him for a week. The day of our flight home, we decided to go to Six Flags...and go on the river rapids ride. Naturally, the side of the raft my mom and I, who were headed straight to the airport, were on got soaked...not splashed, but utterly soaked to the bone. My dad, who was headed straight back to the apartment, stayed bone dry.

All of our clothes were already packed away. It was the last ride of the day before leaving to just barely make the flight, so no time to go unpacking and searching through the suitcases for dry clothes. And we were wearing jeans!! We bought a couple of gift shop towels and dried off the best we could. It was an interesting flight home, but we had a wonderful time and to this day we still laugh about the situation.

Moral of the story... with advance planning, and the ability to change into dry clothes... can't think of a reason for you not to go for it. Have fun!!

I think this sounds like a grand idea. I too thought that the water and play all day would make for sleepy kids on the flight home. Have fun.

We did this one year before we left for the airport! It was a great way to end our trip.
The locker room at TL was terrific .... they had showers and roomy changing areas. I was able to take a shower, get the sand off of me.. and get dressed for the flight home.
One thing I would suggest, is bring a 2 Gallon Ziplock bag with you for your bathing suit and towel.
It was wierd to be at a waterpark until 1pm, then in the snow by 8pm!
Have FUN!

We did this on our Senior Trip, we went to Typhoon Lagoon and then went straight to the airport after 4 nights Including Grad Night itwas great to feel refreshed and it was a nice ending to a great trip, plus I don't think I ever felt more relaxed on the flight home before, I was too tired to even think of all the finals I had coming up!!!

Yes you can definitely get comfortable there. I'm not 100% sure on the hair drying though, but just ring it out if there are no plugs available and you should be okay in the warm Florida weather. We have done that on our last days at parks before and had a blast doing it, and were not uncomfortable on the planes. In fact our last days on vacations are notorious for being "pool" days. Often our flights leave at 8 pm and hotel checkout is 11 am, so since were allowed we just check our luggage at a hotel desk and then go swimming. Sometimes we can't even change out of swimsuits! (At places in the Dominican Republic we encountered this b/c of the no public restrooms available to change in at our hotel.) We just pulled our clothes on over our suits though and changed at the airport. It was fine and we had nice suntans from the last day. :)
