Would you do the Panama Canal (Reposition) cruise again?

I'm thinking about a 14 day Disney Wonder cruise in December. I've never done a 14 day cruise before, and I want to get honest opinions from the ones who've done this cruise. The Wonder is moving from Los Angeles to Miami. This cruise stops at Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Cartagena and Costa Maya. The only one I've been to out of these is Costa Maya. So my question is, would you do this cruise again, or was one time enough? Pros, and cons for a Panama Canal cruise. Any info on the ports would be appreciated. Thanks,

Absolutely! We did the 2011 repo FL to CA and totally enjoyed it. It was our first DCL and there were some complications, but overall it was wonderful. I would want to do different ports and the ones you listed are different, but would want a couple more than are offered on the one you are considering. However, at sea days were great. The cruise we took was at an 'off' time so there werent many kids and it wasnt overly full.

You betcha!

Although we did the WBPC, and the ports were a bit different - CC, Aruba, Alcapulco, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo. I appreciated having the time changes adding an additional hour instead of taking it away, but it was our very first cruise and we didn't know (or think about it) about that when we booked.

:cutie:

Absolutely! We've done one PC cruise and a total of 5 14 day or longer cruises. Would do one again in a heartbeat if the dates worked,

The canal is fascinating, and we were on a two-week Disney cruise. Still wasn't long enough, but we had a great time.

As for doing it again, there are other places I want to visit for the first time -- so many cruises, so little time.

We've been to Alaska four times and I can't wait to go back. We're going to Hawaii for the fifth time next week. I would put them ahead of doing the Panama Canal again, probably because I like the ports better, but we loved going through the Canal.

in a heartbeat!!!!

It would be ideal if we could cruise with the same peeps we did the 2008 EBPC with, but the IGT price for that cruise right now is almost half of what we paid for a cat 10 on that 2008 cruise. If it was a few days later, the kids would be out for their winter break and we could consider booking it. You don't find a cruise for 2A2K for 2150 per week often, and since we are not interested in a MR cruise it's even less often.

Yes!!!!

We talk about it all the time and want to do it again.

Unfortunately, we can't pull our kids from school do it will be a while before we do it again. We do plan to do it again as it was our best vacation we've experienced.

I have done all three Westbound cruises, and I am booked on the May one. I can't speek for the Eastbound ones as I will not do them because I live in LA (I'd rather get off the ship here and not have to fly home and the cruise is three hours longer going west)

Panama Canal was our favorite so far! Definately would do it again, and again.

I've done it twice. I've got a friend who has signed up for a third PC cruise.

We booked the December PC cruise while onboard last week. We are still deciding because we have pull our two boys out of school (ages 8 and 6, 3rd adn 1st grade) but unless I am threatened with prosecution I am going to do it.

My dilema is wheter to pay $7300 for a 5C balcony on deck 6 or to go on the "cheap" and take the IGT for $4500? Maybe we could pay for an upgrade at port and save some $$.

What do the experts suggest?

If you can afford the balcony go for it...especially going through the PC, it was just so nice to sit out there & watch as we went through the locks.

As to the OP...if I had a million dollars I'd go again and again and again....

If DW and I could do this again we would in a heart beat. We did the Wonder PC cruise last year and loved it. We just can't make it work for the next round trip of the Wonder.

Absolutely YES!!! The EBPC cruise we did in 2008 was amazing and an unforgettable family trip. We all loved having a full two weeks on the ship!

Unfortunately, the upcoming PC cruises would require missing a lot of school and with both kids in high school now, that is no longer possible.

A thousand times, yes! We have done the Panama Canal twice now, and I'd definitely do it again. In fact, I would have been very interested in booking the Wonder's PC passage, but we're saving up for the westbound transatlantic in 2013.

Be very careful if you book the IGT, as NO changes can be made and it is non-refundable. I don't know if you can upgrade at the port. Definitely get cruise insurance (not DCL's), as a lot can happen between now and December.
