Would you do Disney at 32 weeks pregnant?

We have a long weekend planned at Disney in January. I just got an email though with a PIN offer for April that would give us the dining plan free for a five-day package, which means we could stay three days longer for the same price we're paying for our Jan trip - Plus it would be warm enough for the kids to swim and we could take a couple of extra days to visit DH's grandparents in Tampa (we can't do this in Jan because DH won't have enough vacation days).

In Jan, I'll just be 21 weeks - in April I'd be 32 weeks. I'll be having a repeat c-section in June and went a week over with both of my daughters, so going into labor isn't really my concern. At first, I thought- no big deal. But then I thought about all the walking! Do you think it would be too much? We live in Tennessee, so Florida is quite a trip (we'll be driving).

I haven't been to Disney since the 7th grade, so I don't really remember much except there is a lot of walking? Anyone ever done it while 7 months pregnant?

I did Disney at 6 months and it wasn't too bad. But I was following the pace of a 2 yr old. So we took it easy and went back to the room for a nap each day. Be sure to get lots of water. But my best tip is to continue walking as much as possible before the trip that way your body will be used to the walking.

Just take it slowly and listen to your body. Don't try to keep up with the rest of the family out of guilt - if you're tired, rest. I speak from experience on this!!! Take advantage of all those park benches, drink plenty of water, and know when to call it a day.

Call your OB and ask if it would be OK. At 32 weeks, some OBs don't encourage travel like that.

If you do go, make sure you drink, drink, and drink to prevent preterm labor (dehydration can cause preterm labor) and make some time to get your feet up throughout the day. Make sure you pack shoes that allow for some swelling or you'll be miserable. And, lastly, ask your OB for a copy of your prenatal record before you go - just in case of emergency and you need to go to a hospital down there. It's always nice to be prepared so this way you won't need it. :goodvibes

I'd do it during the second trimester, but during the third, I'd probably be wary, unless I was 100% ok with taking it easy and not seeing everything. By April it could also be pretty darn hot, and that would concern me as well.

Definitely talk to your OB. My OB did not want me traveling past 32 weeks. As long as you take it easy, drink TONS of water you should be ok. The last thing you want is to get dehydrated because that'll bring on contractions and cramps and you don't want that while you are trying to have fun.

I would talk with your OB..i did it though, and was fine. We just took it a bit slower than usual and i made sure to drink a ton of water.

My opinion, I would tend to stick with the 2nd trimester trip than the third due to the tiredness.
I would also recommend trip insurance. Something may come up with this pregnancy that did not with past pregnancies and you may have to cancel, for example placenta previa. I know I did not think of this before my trip at about 20 weeks but luckily it was just marginal and my OB still gave the ok to go.

If you do this, please be very careful about exerting yourself too much and take care of yourself. My mom was about 6 months pregnant when we visited WDW on my first trip (1979) and she began bleeding a lot, and became concerned about losing the baby. This only happened at WDW. She ended up only doing the parks for about 3 hours in the morning, then would take me to see a movie at the Golf Resort in the afternoon while my dad rested.

I guess it depends on how you think you may feel that pregnant walking around in the heat. I'm not sure if I'd do it since I had sciatic nerve issues at that point with both pregnancies, but everyone's different. If worse came to worse and it became too difficult maybe you could rent a wheelchair. (Although that would pose a problem if you and Dh are pushing strollers with no extra hands).

Only if someone agreed to push me around in a wheel chair. Myfeet were sooo swollen with DS there is no way I'd be up for all that walking. Maybe if I could lay around at the pool all day. I personally couldn't do it/wouldn't want to. I'm sure some people would be fine with it though, I guess it depends on how you handle your pregnancies. I'd definitely check with ob first.

I had this issue with my later pregnancies, too. I found that issues suck as sciatic nerve pain, pelvic pain, contractions, and swelling came sooner with each pregnancy, and were more severe.

When I read the title my immediate response was no but that is because I would be too sad not to be able to do the rides I want. Since you will be pregnant reguardless of when you go I would choose the longer trip. I'm always pretty comfortable still at 32 wks and as long as you don't normally get too uncomfortable by then I would go for it.

I was always pretty miserable after 30 weeks or so. So, I wouldn't have wanted to go at 32 weeks. But, I think you should go by how you felt during past pregnancies. Every pregnancy is different, so you just have to go with what you're comfortable with.

NO WAY - love Disney but not at 32 weeks. Just because you were late before does not mean you will be this time and all that walking and travel. NO NO NO

it would depend on how far from home Disney is. If you have to fly then most airlines will not let you fly in the third trimester. And if you drive be sure to stop every 2 hours and walk for 15 minutes. Check with your OB I am sure they will agree about this. But aside from those issues and you are not having any complications then I say go for it.

Thanks for the opinions, everyone.

It turns out DH couldn't go until May, which would put me at 34 weeks, and there's NO WAY I'm doing that. Our trip in Jan is room only, so I can cancel it up to five days before we leave. That makes me a lot more comfortable than having to book the package and pay 45 days out when who knows what will happen at 34 weeks.

So, we go in January. The kids will be happy no matter what!

Yes, I would. I did Disney at 35 weeks pg and it was a breeze. Have fun!

Edited: Just saw your update. I think you will enjoy the weather in January a lot. Have fun!

I also got a great pin code and will be 30 weeks pregnant during Spring Break (the code and my teacher schedule combined!) but I am just not ok with going at this point. I am only 5'2 and get pretty miserable plus I would HATE to be in some weird situation (I am also a repeat C-section). Talk to your dr before you go! At 32 weeks you could go into labor and if you are like me, natural child birth is not an option and I would NOT want to have a dr in Orlando have to deliver my baby nor do I want to have to carry a newborn home on a plane or in a car for 20 hours...or etc etc.

(can't you see I am trying to talk myself out of it!!!?!?!?!?!? :rotfl2: )

I'd do it. BUT, Double check with your doctor. They might have an opinon of their own.
