I'm still trying to make up my mind about doing the DDP. We are a party of 4 (me, Future DW, DS16, DD13) We are staying at the YC from Nov 4th through 12th. We usually eat at a mix of Counter Service and Table Service during our stays. We also usual either go to Hoop Dee Do or Aloha (this trip we are doing Aloha) and also usualy do at least one Character breakfast.

So with that background, would you purchase the DDP? If so, why?

Thanks in advance for everyone’s opinion.

We did our 1st family trip in July. My DH was skeptical about it. But I talked him into it. Now he swears it's the only way to go. We paid $624 for it for me, him, 15yr.old DS, 4 yr. old DS & 1yr. old DD (she free of course). Just in TS meals alone, our total was $790. Lots of food! We ate at places I don't think we would have otherwise. We didn't have to worry about prices when we ordered. It was GREAT! My opinion is do it. But-not everyone feels this way I'm sure. For us-we'll do it as long as it's available.

I wasn’t sure if I would have bought it for my family, but we did get it for free and now I don’t think I will ever go with out it again. The convenience of not needing to pay for anything and we also dinned at places that I don’t think we would have otherwise. We did enjoy several signature 2 credit meals.

We had it free, and for free it was great, for us next year it will be free agian, for 14 nights, but if I had to pay for it I am not sure I would go for it, I think I'd rather have the dicounted room ahnd then use DDE.

Howeve,r if I were taking others with us, such as the restfo the family then I would use it for the sake fo convience and not haviong to worry about paying for large meals.

:cheer2: For us, there's no other way! We can do a character meal practically every day! Then, in the parks, we see those HUGE lines for a photo and autograph - and are so glad that we don't have to take precious park time to wait for a pic w/ a character.

Last time I checked, DDP was about $38 per person per day - how can anyone say this isn't worth it? You would easily pay that for 2-3 CS meals per day.

The only disadvantage is that you have to plan WAY ahead of time to make ressies - which means you are planning your sight seeing around where you eat. But, if you take the time to do the research and plan it right, it's very worth it.

In the past we always did 2 TS meals and the rest were CS meals. This past Aug, we had the DDP f(or free) and loved it. For our Jan '07 trip we purchased it and can't wait to use it. I can not imagine going without the DDP.

A few of reason why we like it:

1) It is paid for in advance, so less money I need to bring with me.

2) Eating better food(less grease and fried)

3) Trying Food and Resturants that we otherwise would not.

4) Great family experinace.

5) Planning is part of the fun for us

6) It is a lot of fun, and it is at Disney!!!

We were a party of three of 2 adults and one child and used up every credit one the plan. The CMs at the counters were so helpful in getting us the best value. And when we didn't get dessert they would point it out and I would say that we just didn't want the desserts or we would take one only and split it.

We stayed at AKL and used the Mara about twice and ate breakfast at Boma once. Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at CRT (2 credits) and Ohana with DDP. Breakfast with Jojo Circus characters at Hollywood and Vine at MGM on DDP. By the way that is not a very crowded character breakfast which was a very nice change.

At Epcot we used the DDP to have wonderful food at Tangerine Cafe in Morocco and at the counter service place in Mexico.

The last morning I went back to Mara and we "burned up" the rest of our snack and counter credits with packets of microwave popcorn and some packaged candy to take home. The CM was great about ringing up one item to see how many credits we had left. Then advised me on how many things I could get to use up the last of the credits. They let me get two snacks for each counter credit.

I let everyone ahead of me who had trays for food and waited until a less busy time at the Mara to do this by the way.

I also tipped extra when I used the Table service credits. We had a great server, Jay, at CRT, who really made the meal even more special.

I think the DDP was great and highly recommend it. Hope this helps.
