Would you choose 2value rooms or 1 deluxe?

Have you thought about AK or WL? Since your little ones are only two they don't really "count" in the room count so you wouldn't need to get the "deluxe" room at these resorts. AK would be great for kids to get a resort experience and WL has the boat to MK and Ft. Wilderness which the kids love. Of course you can't go wrong with the Poly either. Have fun deciding.

5 people? I would highly suggest 2 rooms at a value-you will be comfortable and have a better time!

We've done both; 2 rooms at ASMo and 1 room at AKL. With my three I would definitely do 2 rooms value. I love having the extra bath, extra beds, extra T.V. and EXTRA PRIVACY. After a long day at the parks having quiet time without the kiddo's is a real plus. (I think their glad to get rid of us for awhile too.)

Either way your at Disney ..... HAVE FUN !!!!! :Pinkbounc

The young ones will enjoy the icons, etc. at the value resorts more than any deluxe. If they are more entertained, then you will have a more relaxing time. You can always have a meal at a deluxe, if you crave the action there. You can visit deluxes for various reasons like going to a spa, etc. I think there will be more companions for the little ones at the values, too. There's a playroom at the POP in the lobby area. I think the food courts are more fun for the young ones. The best part is you can be more informal.

You get more closet space with two value rooms, more dresser area, two TVs, 4 beds, 2 sinks, 2 bathrooms and probably a little more space comparing two values vs. one deluxe.

Now, if you need to be a snob then go for one deluxe room. When someone starts talking finances, I feel compelled to say the values are just fine. Usually, if you buy anything at the resorts the deluxes will cost more per item overall.

I'm not sure I understand your comments. How is going on a bus is so different from getting on the monorail or boat? Aren't they sort of similar? To get to AK and MGM from the Poly, you still have to take a bus. Of course you can always drive, but that is true of all the resorts.
No matter where you are staying, you can eat anywhere on property that the plan allows. In fact, the food courts offer easy choices in the morning - because everyone can pick what station they want to eat from...as opposed to having your family eat at the quick service restaurant at the Poly, for example, where the choices are considerably more limited. (We like quick breakfasts mosts days). I consider it one of the downsides of staying at the Deluxes. Now in the morning I'm not going to take a bus from the Poly to Pop just for breakfast if I'm going to the MK..but if I'm staying at Pop, I might just have breakfast at O'hana's on my way to the MK, so I'm not quite sure what you're getting at. Do you limit your dining to the resort where you stay?

In any event, to comment on the orginal poster..if you get two rooms, you'll either have to split up the adults, or put the 12 year old by herself, or put the four years olds in their own room. I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable with those options. If the kids were older, yes, but probably four is too little. On the other hand, most places won't legally let you have five people in a room, unless one is in a crib. If the kids were older, then probably the extra bathroom would be a big help, but the two little ones probably require help bathing and relatively constant supervision, so for now, the extra bathroom might not be that big of a help. It's a tough choice, but I think I might go for one room. Have you considered a cabin at Ft. Wilderness?

I was just saying that in my experience, we preferred the trips via monorail like EPCOT and MK vs the busses with three kids...we did not have strollers to contend with but I thought there looked to be more room and easier loading for strollers on the boat and monorail vs stuffing it in a bus with about 100 other people...the busses were way more crowded than the monorail or boat ever was and the wait was longer too...
I did choose my resort based on several things but yes, dining was one of those things...we did not have a car so having more dining options via the monorail was a very easy and simple way to go. The value resorts do not have TS restaurants, that is what I am getting at.
I have never tried a value so I can't say what it is like there, only can relate my experience and why I chose the resort I did...HTH...

I've had strollers and believe me the monorail or boats are a lot easier than the buses. While we had to take the bus to AK or MGM we find it a lot easier to use the monorail or boats to MK and Epcot.

Since you are going in July, I'd go deluxe for sure. In July the pool area is extremely important. Also a monorail resort will make it much easier to manage your time and work around peak crowd times.

When we last went in December we did 2 rooms at Pop and that was great for then. The pool was far less a priority, crowds weren't an issue and that extra bathroom was fantastic. Oh, and our adjoining rooms featured a king room and double/double set-up, so the king and I were comfortable.

I have 2 words for you........TWO TV"S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went through all of the same questions you are asking....and if you are spending time back at the resort - do you want to be sentenced to a vacations worth of cartoons? I can not tell you how having our own bathroom, bedroom and privacy save us for a week. (Even if we spend 10 min. a day at the hotel) - but the big big big thing is 2 TV's!!! I was worried about no slide at the pool, I was worried about not being on the monorail, I was worried about the theming, I was worried about the size of the room, I was worried about the restaurants.....I worried about it all until by husband said "Honey, not only our own room with privacy, and our own bathroom, but our own TV!" That did it for me. After long hours at the park doing everything that make 4 year olds happy, do you want to go to sleep with the TV that makes them happy (or no TV to relax to at all?) NOOOO!!!!
If you can afford 2 rooms at POR go for it over the poly, but I found that at the time of year we are traveling, it was only $200 more for us to have 2 rooms at an All star than 1 at POR! For 7 days of privacy and your own TV! Having a break from the kids at night will make a better parent the following day.

In regards to the poster who commented on splitting up adults or putting the older child by themself - HELLO? connecting rooms. An internal door connects the rooms to make it like a suite. Get one with a King and one with 2 doubles - you're set.....Do you realize what they would pay for this at a deluxe?

Another thing....

When looking online at all of the resorts...while the deluxe ones looked really grand to me....all of my children looked at the ALL Star Movies pictures and said..."But Mommy, I really want to stay there!" So while some say stay at the deluxe while you still can....I say stay at the All Star while it still looks cool to your kids....eventually it won't look at cool to them, and you may have to go more expensive...

I also vote for 2 value rooms. After our recent trip to the ASMu, I am a value resort convert. We've stayed at the Poly before, and were totally unimpressed with the theming. So many Florida hotels have a tropical theme, and although the rooms were big, ours was mostly taken up by the ridiculously large bathroom, so we felt a bit cramped.

In fact, a location like ours at the ASMu might be ideal for you. We had connecting rooms on the 3rd floor of Building 9 (Jazz), on the parking lot side. There was a nice shady playground just outside, and we were equally close to the Calypso pool with its kiddie pool and the Piano pool (quiet pool). The landscaping was lush and beautiful. The food court was close and convenient for everyone to get what they wanted to eat, and the parking was close enough to get us to the car when we wanted to go elsewhere (we did not use the buses much at all). We also loved the gift shop and arcade (well, the kids loved it).

By far the best part was the two rooms. That was a ton of space! We loved having 2 bathrooms and two TVs. Having enough space is VERY important to my family. In fact, we came back and cancelled our reservations at WL for Christmas and booked two rooms at Pop Century instead! I hope we like Pop as much as we liked the ASMu.

Have a great trip, whatever your decide!

I think I made a mistake posting , I'm new to these boards, but My4KIds has definatley convinced me. to go with the 2 value rooms. I never thought about the 2 tv's. I would go crazy watching Spongebob, Dora, and Thats so Raven for a week. Thanks for the insight. Also it's funny because I let my DS and DN look at an old Disney video to choose what hotel they liked best. Guess which one they choose!!. Now I just need help deciding between ASMO and POP!! Is ASMO better for preschoolers. I think my DD12 will be okay anywhere there are preteen boys. :lovestruc

I am kind of going through the same dilemna. I am already planning my trip for next september, only this time we are taking my son's girlfriend along with us so that makes 5 of us. This past september we stayed at All Star Sports Resort, room is kind of small but we absolutely loved. Should I take two adjoining rooms or one room for all of us at a deluxe resort. I also noticed that Coronado Springs has junior suites available that fit 5 people. I was hoping for POR bust just read that the trundle bed available is for a child under the age of 9 and also under 5 five feet tall- shucks.... Still 2 rooms at the value resorts is less expensive as 1 deluxe room. Now does anyone know how the reservation would have to go? From my understanding the room ressies has to be under and adult's name so that would leave my husband reserving one while I reserve the other at All Star Sports?

jftr, you won't be watching spongebob or dora because disney tvs do not get nick... because we do not have cable at home, that is one of the things my kids like about staying in a hotel and they were a tad disappointed (they made up for it by watching some disney station shows LOL) imagine being disappointed by the tv selection while at disneyworld!

fyi, adjoining rooms mean "near each other" in hotel-jargon... CONNECTING rooms have the door between them... given that you are taking your ds and his gf (assuming they are not adults since you inquired about putting rooms in your/dh's name), i'd say you would want connecting! (unless you are wayyyyy more liberal than me! LOL!)

again, i'd vote for the two rooms so you will have an extra bathroom!

Hi! I just noticed the Winnie the Pooh quote in your signature, and it just about made me cry. That's a wonderful quote, and I was just wondering if you knew what it was from.

Thanks ::MinnieMo
