Our trip is for April vacation week. The soft plan now is leave on a weekday (tues-weds) @ 4 Am. Drive to Fayetsville NC stay over (Hampton Inn). We then will drive to Hilton Head and stay a few days (have a resv), then onto WDW for a week.

The ride home leave Sat. morning drive as far as possible, stay a night and then make it home for sunday. We thought about HH on the way home, but we like to just get home after a trip.

Thanks .....ohhh yea we will be going 95.

95 is fine, however, when possible take whatever routes you can around major cities, i.e. NYC, DC I'm not sure where you are driving from, but we live in Mass and the 1 time we drove to HH we went 84, 684, 287 over the Tappan Zee through Jersey on the Parkway (I think) and then 95 the rest of the way.

Just make sure you have a reservation for the ride home. Try to decide how far you want to go your first day and if you get there and want to keep going you can but if you don't book a hotel and you find yourself tired and ready for a break you could be stuck without a room because you are traveling at a busy time. I speak from experience and it wasn't fun!!!

This is the best way to get to 95 in NJ. If you come down 95 in CT, you have to go over the Throgs Neck Bridge to the George Washington. That puts you on the Cross Bronx Expressway, which is probably the worst road in the entire country. I live on Long Island, and have to take many routes when I go off island, but I avoid the Cross Bronx like the plague. Horrible road.

We have driven from NH 5 times in January and this is how we go as well. We stay away from the GW Bridge!!! We usually leave at 2pm and can make it to St. Augustine, Fla by 6 pm the next day with a nap for 3 hours somewhere and stops for meals/bathrooms. It is a long haul and it is nice if you can stop and spend the whole night somewhere!!
Safe travels and enjoy your trip!!

I don't know if you have ever visited Hilton Head before, but it is beautiful in April. And it will probably be warm enough to swim there.

If you're there the 3rd weekend in April, it might be a little crowded. There is a big PGA golf tournament that weekend.

We have never been and are very excited, and I just saw the PGA maybe we can see Tiger and his harem :rotfl:
