would you buy the AP for $20 more dollars

My kids revolted and asked to stay with the grandparents when my husband and I go to Disney (past experiences and then one year of an annual pass sent them over the edge). So, last year, just my husband and I renewed our passes. The kids asked to go with us New Years, so I obtained Undercover Tourist tickets for them.

Now, my baby has asked to go to Disney during his brothers week long high adventure camp next summer. I have made arrangements for the two of us to go. If I buy a park hopper for him for that trip, the price of the two tickets for him is $20 less than the cost of an annual pass. So my first inclination was to just buy the second ticket.

But, my husband and I are running the Star Wars Dark side in April. The children have asked not to go because they don't want to be away from school and activities. There is a small chance that I won't find coverage for child care, which means I will take the kids. They really will end up missing just a half day of school if they go, but they don't want to do that, particularly as it will interfere with sports over the weekend. There is little likelihood we would go to Disney again within the year, other than these mentioned trips.

So, now I am inclined to spring for the extra $20 just in case my sitting falls through for the April trip. Would upgrade the baby's ticket at New Years to an AP, as a just in case. I am out $20 if I don't use it, but I am down about $200 if I have to take the boys in April.

Which would you do?

I agree. $20 bucks is nothing. Definitely upgrade. The perks alone are worth it, although your son won't need the room discount etc since you will use yours, if needed. Still, such a small amount of money for big possibilities.

Yes, without hesitation.
I am doing it actually.
DH, DGD and myself all have AP
We are taking DD on a trip this week and DD, and DGD myself are all going back in April (also for the Dark Side race events)
I can get DD 2 5 day passes or take the 5 day pass I have for her now and upgrade it to an AP
Not only will I have to not upgrade her to a PH pass this trip (we will be needing to hop) but I won't need to upgrade my AP to the new version to get the Photoass features. I can now wait to upgrade ours when we renew in May.

You get photopass included with AP's now. Also 10% merchandise discounts, almost everywhere and some dining discounts.

Clever about photopass. I think that's worth $20. Thanks.

Something else to consider, odds are excellent there will be park ticket price increase by April.
I based our upgrade cost based on the price of today's 5 day ticket. It will probably save you money (vs costing $20) based on a guess of what a ticket will cost come April.

Upgrade, especially since the rumors are tickets are going up if you don't plan to purchase them now.

Because my GF works for Disney, we get free admission (minus blackout dates) to the parks...
However, we've said that if she didn't we'd just get an annual pass (probably the bi-coastal) for the room discounts and the parking.

My point...?
It's 20.00...get the pass.

I can not see why you would not get the AP so what you do not have to take the child back and end up not needing it so your out $20 but if you do need to take him back you are spending a few 100s

I would do it
