My kids revolted and asked to stay with the grandparents when my husband and I go to Disney (past experiences and then one year of an annual pass sent them over the edge). So, last year, just my husband and I renewed our passes. The kids asked to go with us New Years, so I obtained Undercover Tourist tickets for them.
Now, my baby has asked to go to Disney during his brothers week long high adventure camp next summer. I have made arrangements for the two of us to go. If I buy a park hopper for him for that trip, the price of the two tickets for him is $20 less than the cost of an annual pass. So my first inclination was to just buy the second ticket.
But, my husband and I are running the Star Wars Dark side in April. The children have asked not to go because they don't want to be away from school and activities. There is a small chance that I won't find coverage for child care, which means I will take the kids. They really will end up missing just a half day of school if they go, but they don't want to do that, particularly as it will interfere with sports over the weekend. There is little likelihood we would go to Disney again within the year, other than these mentioned trips.
So, now I am inclined to spring for the extra $20 just in case my sitting falls through for the April trip. Would upgrade the baby's ticket at New Years to an AP, as a just in case. I am out $20 if I don't use it, but I am down about $200 if I have to take the boys in April.
Which would you do?
