Would you bring this camera to WDW?

For the backpack carriers:
What are you doing w/ the backpack when you go on the rides? That's my biggest concern, especially when the ride has a shoulder harness that comes down.

I just bought a crumpler 4M for my rebel and the kelly lens. I will be going to WDW in December and thinking maybe I should switch to a backpack.. :confused3

I just tuck it under my feet, with one foot through a strap of the backpack. We've done RnRC that way many times. Never lost a backpack yet. :)

It seems we typically lose a visor on our trips. Okay - ds takes his off and then forgets to grab when he exits the ride. Your backpack will be fine, camera gear and all!

Same here. Backpack fits between my legs on the rides no problem (RnRC, Splash, Space, BTMR, EE, even all the indoor slow rides and the safari). I had a little aprehension on the last trip considering I was carrying around my new D50, but ended up having no problems at all.

Yup, backpack with me on every ride while in the world.
Universal, however is a horse of a different color.....

Take what I call "the Big Bag". I got better pictures on the AK Safari with the Canon 10D than I did when I used the Powershot (little bag). And it is a lot more versatile for the tele shots. I take the EOS 1 (film), the EOS 10D and flash, 3 lenses, light meter, and small reflector with a small tripod. Don't use the EOS 1 much anymore, but is good backup until I can get a 5D. I usually just carry camera around my neck with Tamron 28 - 300mm lens. Just plastic bag it on water rides and backpack it on the wild rides. Sports Mode works well on Safari. Definitely should take it.

After seeing Spectro's photo, thought I'd share one of me and my backpack, too. (Of 1300 photos, this is one of the few of me!... I guess the three kids didn't go to WDW by themselves afterall :lmao: )

Anyway, this is a Tamrac 5371. In it, I carried my Olympus E-300, a Sony camcorder (though I guess I was holding it when my son took this pic), 2 lenses, 2 hoods, a fish eye, extra batteries and media, etc. I recently bought a bigger bag (Tamrac 5374), but I decided not to bring everything, so I opted to bring the smaller bag, which worked out well for Disney. For rides, it fit nicely by my feet with no problems. The 5371 is a good size for me, but a little small for my husband and his muscular build. He likes the size of the 5374 better.

But by all means, bring the good camera!! It's really fun to take photos there... there are sooo many opportunities! And it's fun to go thru them afterwards and relive the memories. Though I did take a number with a Casio point and shoot (which I still love, especially when I am on the go with the kids), the quality pales in comparison to the DSLR. Take the D50 and try it for a day. If it works out to be a hassle, just take the point and shoot to the parks for the rest of the trip.

Good luck, and have a great time!
