Would you always take a Deluxe over a Moderate?

jpeltier-have fun at CSR, we would definitely go back there! :)

Fantasia-
I agree with you though, we like the space in the deluxe rooms and if we had our choice we'd always stay in a resort with inside corridors.

OP-I'd see what the rates are like and decide whether it is worth it for you or not. If I had my choice, I'd always try a new WDW resort until I tried them all. Unfortunately time and money are not permitting so we decided to go back to our new fave-renting points at BWV! :)

My ideal would be to do a split stay - half at a deluxe and half at a moderate. I love the theming of the moderates (especially POFQ and CSR) much more than the theming of the deluxes but I also love the deluxes for bigger rooms, balconies, inside corridors.

Personally, I think that the deluxe resorts are a waste of money. That said, we always manage to stay at one. The reality is that most people spend very little time at the resort. So unless you can really afford to spend the extra money I would save it and stay at a moderate. :wizard:

If money is no object, I would keep going back so I could stay at all the resorts. It wouldn't matter which one I am at as long as I am there.

Certainly true in our case!

Personally, if you are going for the Halloween Party I'd advise staying as close to MK as possible. We started our stay at the WL and then moved to the Poly the morning of our Party. It was very handy to just hop on a boat and ride back to the resort at the end of the night. I'd hate to think about the lines for buses at midnight with two tired kids and a cranky Mom and Dad :)

We did a split stay in Oct.-5 nights at POFQ followed by 4 nights in a deluxe room at AKL.The winner-hands down fav.from a party of 14 was POFQ. No one would do the AKL again.Which considering the variety of tastes, ages and interests in our group(as well as our inability to agree on anything)was a surprise.
AKL was very nice. The animals were great, the service was great, the theming fantastic. We weren't there enough to justify the cost despite a fabulous AP rate. For the atmoshere go and have dinner at Boma's.
POFQ was the best resort we have stayed in.It was small, well laid out and peaceful. The bus service and food court served all our needs. The pool satisfied everyone.
If we had it to do over- we would have saved the money and stayed at the POFQ for the entire stay.

Yes!

We just came back from CR and Dh says that we will wait longer before our next trip if necessary but WE WILL be on the monorail. The extra room, monorail service, and ability to walk to the MK was SO worth it!!!

For the past 5 yrs we have had two trips a yr to the WL and loved every minute of each. This year I was lucky enough to get a killer code which gives me POFQ for half the best price I could get at WL. I am hoping and praying that this too will be a winner as hubby so loves the Lodge. I shall report back in two weeks when this trip is over and I can better respond.

As you can see from my countdown timer....this next trip will be our dream trip. My brother has been wanting to stay at AKL and myself at GF.

This will be our first time at a deluxe resort. I have stayed at CSR, POFQ and Pop. I actually liked Pop best of all 3! The room was not too small for 2 obsessive compulsive neatnicks. And I was very surprised at how short the walk was to everywhere...this from a 50's building facing the lake. The only problem was with handicapped parking as we got closer into the weekend. Of course this was during value season and I can see the parking would get to be a major pain.

I am hoping we are not going to be totally spoiled by the deluxe...but bet we are!

I would stay deluxe, the resort is as much as a part of my vacation as the parks and attractions.

I think, to a great extent, how many times you've been to WDW affects this. Our first few times, it was really all about seeing and doing. After that, I think we realized that there is more than enough time to see and do enough, and that just being and resting were just as important. Some folks spend their entire vacation on a patch of sand -- no rides, no shows, no attractions -- and some of them pay far more than we do, so there is great merit for many in just enjoying the destressing that the resort can provide.
