I am an administrator for WNC Group Homes in Asheville NC. We serve teens and adults with autism and severe behavioral challenges. I know how hard placement is from the other side. We just recently had to place one of our young ladies at the regional developmental center due to severe seizures and behavioral challenges beyond what we could do in the community. We literally had to jump through hoops to get her placed, even though it was clearly evident to all that she needed care beyond what we could provide.

I KNOW that Christian will get placement in the spot that is right for him. I know that it may seem like the government agencies don't care, but have faith. It will happen.

Hang in there, and know that you, your family and all the government agency folks are in my prayers.

Oh,I forgot about that. I took him back to the pediatrician this morning for a recheck and full physical. Christian has gained back 5 lbs. He's still low for his height and we're sending some Ensure or Boost to school (or whatever we have in the kitchen.) His neuro has him on a new(for us) drug for the excessive drooling and it's working pretty well.Drool is much less, Mom is much happier.

I wish you lived in NY, I work at a residential placement (well, the school portion) and we would LOVE to have Christian here. We house (and educate) around 80 "kids" just like Christian in 4 dorms and 3 houses on our property.

I hope you find a placement swiftly with staff as fabulous as ours.
