We are coming on a months holiday to USA next yr, we are spending 2 weeks in orlando and will be at usf a lot as it is my favourite park.

Then we are heading to LA, for a few days, is it worth paying to go to USC, is there anything more to see, what is the backlot tour like?

Hi Sally!

I think I'm going to do just that! We were at UO for a week in August, and I think we're doing a weekend at USH in October. We haven't been to USH for a few years (we are DL AP holders), so I'm anxious to see the changes.

If the backlot tour is still the same---it is GREAT! You go through a number of REAL sets, and the narrator tells you which movies were filmed there, and how the same sets were used for different movies.

The bottom line is I would never say "no" to a theme park visit! LOL!!

Yes....the tour is really good. Definitely worth it........we went for over a month a few years ago now...managed to cram in SF, LA, then a 7 day tour of all the national parks including Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley etc, also did San diego, bit of Mexico, Phoenix, Scotsdale, ending up at Las Vegas, then Grand Canyon (definitely do the helicopter flight - I was lucky and sat up front!!) back to LA before flying to Oahu for a few days. It's a good idea to finish with the beach to unwind and relax before the long flight home....Hawaii was lovely - everything you think it is!! :D

I will be the lone dissenter here and say that we hated USH. That may be because we had 2 small DD's at the time and there were very few things they could enjoy there. Also, I was pregnant (with DD #3 at the time) and found that USH is much more spread out with nothing entertaining in between. The distance between attractions was overwhelming for us and there was nothing enjoyable in between. We enjoyed KnottsBerryFarm much more than we did USH, but that may be the kid factor coming into play again. Whatever you decide, have fun!

We have to remember that for any of us Universal fanatics, this would be a great thing, but would it be worth it for the average theme park goer?

Universal Studios Hollywood is cool because it's located adjacent to a real working Hollywood movie studio. While USF is, technically, a real working studio, it's not to the same degree as USH.

Now, Universal Orlando has all the rides USH has, with a few exceptions. They have Backdraft, which is the west coast's answer to Twister (or..the other way around) and the WaterWorld stunt show, along with the Backlot tour.

USH doesn't have all of UO's rides. Hollywood has BTTF, JP, T2:3D, and a version of Jaws and Earthquake in their Backlot tour. USH, as far as I know, still has the Wild West Stunt Show and a version of Kong during the Backlot tour.

So it's up to you if doing the same rides is worth seeing the different park.

Thanks for all the great advice.

Still havnt made up our minds yet, think we will go with the flow. See how we feel when we are in LA and go for the day if i feels right
